Need some help for the right hand

I played about a year accoustic guitar, now I got a e-guitar, but actually got heavy problems playing with a pick and also got problems with palm muting. I watched vids bout palm muting but still it seems that I make something wrong cause most of the time I kill the tone or there is no difference between pm and normal playing.
Another point is I dont know which song(s) I should start with. I tryed south of heaven, don't got huge problems with the left hand except the solo, but with my right hand, it just doesn't sound like the song. Hope you guys can help me.

greetings hai

The right end of your palm should be on the bridge, only slightly muting the first little length of the strings close to the bridge. Not the entire palm all over the strings, that's complete muting, just mute enough til you can here everything clearly.

You can really generate different PM effects just but how hard you put pressure on the string with your palm.

Rest your palm on the Low E string and just play successive open E notes. Adjust how much pressure you put on that string but keep playing and you'll hear different muted string sounds. Resting hard gives it a very muted sound but just slightly gives it a chunk with a slight ring to it. You'll find the 'crunch' you're looking for this way, and go from there.

Yep the two posts above basically cover the how-to of it. Also, just by practicing, you'll be able to get the feel for what's right sooner than you even know. You won't even think about what you're doing.

Anything by Suffocation is good practice for palm muting.

To help nail the technique, do something like play a simple power chord, say on the 5th fret of the low e string as normal, then mute the note out neatly through using your right hand push into the strings. Keep on practicing this until you get a better view of what's happening, then move onto practicing this in a way where when your palm is pressed into the strings, your left hand comes away from the neck slightly; when you press in to fret notes with the left hand, then left out your right hand a bit. View it as a blance or a see-saw/similar if it helps, but that's a good start to learning
