idk man, I've never had an Edge (III) corrode on me, or show any wear n tear for that matter, even after daily use for several years. Regardless, I was more or less referring to the feel of them when playing because it's a lot smoother.

Oh, and Virus. Filter down that list to those bands we would actually want to care about and I'm sure why Necrophagist is referred to as "Necro'" will be a little more justified.

2) the inlays and the reverse Ibanez headstock totally kill the whole feel for me.
And funny enough, I know why:
I expect a Jackson headstock w/ a Jackson logo when I look at it.

I thought i remember reading in the booklet that he used a gibson for the solos...i could be wrong though...
yeah ibanez will never truly get away with extreme styles unless they are willing to change the headstock...gibson can with the V and explorer cuz the headstock they use works...not to extreme...but it works...i would maybe buy that thing if it had a cool headstock...but then again i would save the money and get myself a ran instead. |

Looks pretty decent to me, although the paint job was kind of "Disco Fever"-like.
That video was pretty bad, it's like one of those "Top 100 Celebrity something" shows that fill in between commercial breaks where there are three hundred people saying half a sentence each about stuff that's blatantly obvious.. hehe.
It did sound pretty good though, but it sounded thinner than the PAF Pro on Epitaph , but the D Activator neck pickup has a shitload of treble and no bass so..

Na, apparantly he used his brother's ibanez jem for all the solos. I believe it had an emg installed, not too sure though. i remember reading that somewhere.
i wonder how good his brother is at guitar, it would be awesome if he features on the new album.

Don't get me wrong, I think the Ibanez headstock is PERFECT for the RG Series and similar guitars (I also think the RG body style is sexy as hell), but I totally loathe those kind of sharkfin inays Ibanez came up with and a reversed Ibanez headstock looks about as threatening to me as a poodle with no teeth.
Shit, I remember when I wanted a JEM when I started out playing, just so I could go around pretending I was Steve Vai.

i love my RG with its headstock and its sharktooth inlays, but that neck and headstock just look dumb on that warrior type guitar.
extreme shape + extreme paint + extreme inlays = too much, obnoxious
then again i never like extreme paint. i think if your guitar has an extreme body, it should have a relatively plain neck. that's why his vigier always looked so good to me. and for those who want to say it's the sound that matters, this is clearly not so to him since he was using his brother's RG on the albums and yet using the extreme guitars live for the look.

Totally agreed on all points. Mo's Vigier's where hot as hell. I find that alot of guitars that put me off have more than 2 of the previous "extremes" present.
That "Disco Fever" chameleon paint has been pretty popular recently. I remember when I saw it offered as a custom paint job in a Carvin catalog back in like '98 pictured with some country superstar guy. I always thought it had a cool effect on, say, a classic car, but for a guitar? "Hey look guys, when I go over to the other side of the stage it turns PURPLE!!!" |

Muhammed used his cousin's Ibanez JEM for recording the solos on Onset of Putrefaction and Epitaph. His Vigier was for rhythm guitar. Christian Muenzer also used an Ibanez (forget the model) for the recording of Epitaph. They've actually been relying on Ibanez quite heavily for their sound.
