Countdown to record in Cool Edit Pro?

Anyone know how to turn this feature on on CEP, if it even has it? Like you know, a 4-bar click or beep after you click record but before it actually starts recording. Anyone know how to do this?

i would suggest hitting record, running a click track in another program, playing along, and then cropping out the beginning silence afterwards. i work between sound forge and fruity loops and that's how i do it. sorry if this doesn't help ya.

I'm not sure that it will allow you to NOT record during that time, but i know for a fact you can set it up that when you hit record it will do a 4 measure click. At least with Adobe Audition which is Cool Edit pro.

Thanks. Ern well never mind, didn't really need to because the song I was recording to for fun had a drum roll intro. I'm sittin down to learn Cubase LE that came with my interface this week and I know that one has the 4-beep thing, so I'm moving onto that one.

Here's the Decapitated song I recorded:

Forgive the atrocious guitar tone, it was just a digitech RP1 going straight into my Presonus Inspire. Btw, that was recorded at 96khz/24bit with ZERO LATENCY.

Not bad on the Way To Salvation Soreu. I went looking for that countdown feature. I know it exists in Adobe Audition. I can recall having it enabled in the past, but can't seem to find anything about it now.

does anyone know if there's a recording plug-in for fruity loops? because i know if you do live recording for midi events, it will always give you a countdown. it would be nice if you could do line-in or mic recordings, too.

It has a built in recorder somewhere, but it's a bit awkward, I don't use it.

I don't think you can. I think there is a punch in and out feature, that MAY set you up with a roll in. If not, what you need to do is set up the recording to start at a point that is BEFORE the point you actually want to start recording at. Then you can silence the parts of the track that occured before you wanted it to record.

If you are doing any sort of multitracking, I would always suggest recording at least 1 bars worth of audio before the point you actually want recorded, this will help with sounds dipping in and out and sudden changes in attack or volume level. Again, you can always go abck and remove audio that is unnecessary. Hope that helps.

Ah thanks anyway guys, I already learned most of the important stuff with Cubase LE now so it's my main recording app now, and it has a count-off thing. Thanks anyway.
