The Audio Production Techniques Thread

Discuss audio production techniques here.

First off I have a question on Filters. I attached the intro to Mnemic's Deathbox. and i know its the use of filtering to get the in and out effect. But what filters do you think that they use. Ive wandered through cakewalk sonar and have found a million different filters but i don't know what route to go.

That sounds like a highpass filter with automation to make it kind of fade in and out like that. I've never worked with sonar before, so I couldn't tell you how to do it there, but I know it's possible in cubase.

Thanks man, Lord Gore do kick ass. Shame they broke up, though.

What kind of pan do you guys usually use for mixing 2 harmonized lead guitars? and is one usually louder than the other?

I would imagen not far. Keep the lead more in the center.

I'll usually do mid to far left and right. Pungency's right that most leads are center, but it can sound really cool in the entire stereo image to have the two different parts on opposite sides.
