Drumkit from Hell 2?
Any good? It's like a 1.5 Gb download so I wanna know if it's worth getting, don't wanna DL something I'm not gonna use. I wanted to get DKFHS but that was a gigantic DL and I couldn't find it anywhere. So yeah is DKFH2 easy to use and just as powerful as Superior? Or should I just stick to fruity loops and/or leafdrums for my drumbeats?

DFKH 2 Is just samples, not a sequencer like superior. You'd need your own sequencer or a host application with midi sequencing and VsT softsynth support (then you'd wanna download battery 3 as well, because you could use it to its full potential, but you'd also need a soundcard or interface with low latency monitoring). The reason it's fucking huge is because it's all sampled in multiple velocities, so when used in conjunction with a program like battery, you can mess with the velocities and make it sound much more realistic. It really depends on how your'e gonna use it.
They sound fucking awesome, though.

Can I use DKFH's soundbank with Fruity Loops for example? That's the sequencer I use to make drumbeats, but the stock samples are kinda lame for metal, I want more sounds. Plus I'm very familiar with FL nowadays, never used VST shit or softsynth(ie: BooBass in FL) stuff with it though.
Is Battery a sequencing program like FL or is it a sort of VST thing to use in Cubase/Nuendo?

To use the DFKH sounds in FL, you'd need to select a single sample out of all the velocities and use just that, which would be a waste to download the whole thing. I could probably do that for you and send them to you, but my production computer isn't set up right now. As for battery, it's a VsT thing to run with a host app, and it's essentially useless unless you have a good soundcard with low-latency monitoring. I'll hook up my production computer and dig around, I don't quite remember where I keep all my drum samples on there...

I downloaded some version of Drum Kit from hell. And it was decient. I mean it sounded like a live version of just a regular drumset. Had some decient snare choices. Limited everything else though. Lots of different velocities but only on like 1 or 2 different types of kicks, crashes, and toms. The toms were decient except they just sounded too, non metal cd worthy. I mean i can't really explain it but they definately didn't fit in well with my music. Even attempting to add lots of bass and low mids didn't really help.
The picks of kickdrums is where the download was just awful. Worst kick drum sounds i could have ever imagined for my use. I mean if you weren't playing anything that requires that like deep, short, bass sound. (metal, punk and a bunch of other music) then it sounds decient. To be honest it sounded like a hammer hitting wood. It was atrocious.

Hmm maybe I'll pass on this DKFH thing, less I manage to free 30Gb+ on my PC for DKFHS. Thx for all the help.
FL is easy enough for me now, anyone know where I can get some really good drum samples for it? I'm also gonna try to learn leafDrums a bit, as I hear it's easier to use for more complex stuff like triplets...

For a long time i used the samples that came with it. The FPC ones i think they're called. They sound pretty decient.
But then i captured the sounds that i use with my elec drumset and its what you might hear with any of my produced music. I think it works well. Although i need to update my hi hat sound, i've since switched hi hats.

Are you sure you got the right one? The "standard" drumkit from hell is recorded by whoever drums for meshuggah and sounds pretty damn decent for all kinds of metal - everything from that punchy, tight thud on say Immortal's Sons of Northern Darkness to that hammer click super tight uptuned "click" on Mayhem's De Mysteriis.. What i feel is a bit lacking is percussion like cymbals, rides and different hits / types / etc of these. Kicks, snares, toms are all pretty decent i think.

i think i got like an extra light verion. its only like 1 gig i think. The set that i got i actually found the cymbals to be much better than ANY i've heard. Just very solid sounds.
Although i'm kind of iffy of the "reverb" / room that the stuff that ig ot was recorded in. doesn't mesh well at all with any of my recordings, or other samples i might try to use.
I think i'm gonna attempt to redownload dkfh.

What format do the samples come in? Wav's or something that only works with Battery and shit? I don't know if I should get this DKFH thing.

They are wav files last time i checked - these are compatible with everything. But, there are files that define which wav files make up a drumkit (maps wav file 1 to snare 1 in drumkit 1), and these are only compatible with this or that drum machine. I wrote a script that translates battery drumkit files to hydrogen drumkits, works pretty good.

You obviously konw a little about drum loops and sequencing. Know any good ones for the mac? I've found absolutely none.

Edits here: DKFH2, the one i have, come with samples in Kontakt format, which is pretty.. useless. Anyway, i have the original DKFH, which is multiformat, def. worth checking out. ~500mb download.
If you want to i can hook you up with the .wav's, they come in a zip file on the CD which is 230mb.

The format Kontakt uses for drumkits? =/ Kontakt is a sequencer.
Oh and it also comes with Kompakt, which is a scaled-down Kontakt.
