tuner gear ratios
Anybody understand what gear ratios mean? I'm seeing 14:1, 16:1, and 18:1, but i dont know what it really stands for, or which one is more accurate.

Seems a pointless thing to fixate over, but I'd assume it means something along the lines of a ratio of turning distance in the machine head relative to how much the peg/string actually moves per rotation, much like the system on a geared up bike
Fuck the pegs, add more distortion

18:1 means that for every 18 turns it moves 1, not sure what this is in relation to (tuning pegs?) so I don't know what the measurement unit is. I find that hard to believe though! So the higher the number the more accurate.

Correct, bigger ratio, more tuning accuracy, not a touchy peg that as soon as you turn it a little bit it goes wickedly sharp, turn it down a little and it goes too flat.
Usually it means it's a better quality peg, but it doesn't always mean that it's going to keep your strings in tune longer.

If you turn the peg round 18 times, the post will turn round once
