well, i bought an AO cd just cuz i thought they had one of the coolest names for a band. oh god, they suck so bad. its the worst black metal ever...... well, i really hate all black metal except dimmu and cradle, but these guys are an exceptionally shitty band.

so anyway, i am curious, are they a joke band? are they like the S.O.D. of black metal? they have retarded names and the singer has a clown puppet on his arm. also, their song titles suggest that they are a joke band.

the ONLY cool thing they got is their name..............

I gotta admire the old school nature of the way you buy albums, not many people do that anymore thanks to our friend we love to hate.....The Internet. I remember when the shit I bought was based simply by what the album cover, song titles, band name were, it was more exciting. Of course every now and then I'd buy a real piece of shit and my friends and I would usually throw it out of my car while on the freeway. This was of course before I had heard of used record stores, stupid fucking me. It was fun watchin it break all over the road though.

I agree with Morbid_Death. I like the band to. Not enough to go buy the album just yet cause I have only heard two songs. I like it when people go against the grain and make something different. Its called evolution. ...And Oceans do remind me of Animatronic era Kovenant though.

Blizzard Beast

I discovered some good and a few bad bands that way.

Good bands:
Immolation - They have since turned out to be my favorite band ever. I'm just lucky that "Close To a World Below" had a killer cover....or else i would have neevr heard them.
Nile - All the egypt stuff looked original and cool......and it turned out pretty sweet too. Not my fav, but a good listen.
Incantation - Crazy artwork on their covers.....turned out to be one of my fav downright hardcore death metal bands.

Bad Buys:
Krisiun - I bought it cause the cover had the 3 horsemen on it......looked pretty cool. The downside was the music......the whole cd sounded like one 40 minute track broken up into parts, no difference at all from song to song. Also the drums sound too "fast" or "mechanical" to be good, soudns more like a drum machine.

all the cds i buy are based on having very small info on em. maybe a cool name, a metal band with a female singer, heavy keyboard use, etc. i usually dont buy based on cover art.........

oh and malphas, the AO cd i got is from 1999, and it has the gay names with they gay pictures inside. if i had a scanner id scan the pics, it really seems like they are a joke band, or just dont take it too seriously (like S.O.D.)

My opinion, the band is quite cool, I only have the album "cypher" but it's quite funny to listen to, and I think you can't compare it to black metal.

And what kinda metal it is, i dunno, it has some funny songs. little experimental, but it's not that bad.

i heard there newer stuff has a techno fusion in it which would be cool, but i'd rather take my chances on newer Kovenant..........

well, i bought Cypher by AO, and im actually pretty impressed. i heard that they became more of a techno metal band so i decided to get a newer cd. its pretty cool really. the vocals are much better, and the keyboard use has evolved. plus, the songs take a more structured approach, and are much shorter. All around, its a very good album.............. its not really black metal at all now...........
