Only from None up to Chaosphere. I think they tuned to Eb for pre-None material and to F from Nothing onwards.

Didn't they begin using 8-strings from Nothing onwards. I heard they started using them, but I'm not sure when that was.

their bassist dropped off of a tour for some reason... sickness or injury, i dont remmeber... so they had to fill in his place and added an 8th string. Thats the story i heard.

Actually, they recorded Nothing with 7 strings tuned as 8 strings, because they didn't have the 8 strings yet. They didn't even have them for their tour with Tool.
I am happy though that Ibanez is now mass producing 8 string guitars. If only I had 2000 to spend on one. I would SO tune that bad boy to standard an octave down.
