Why don't American bands get any respect?

Besides the fact that they haven't exactly produced the best music.

What makes bands from other areas have a particular distinct sound that can't be matched by us Americans?

I don't see the basis for this assumption.

Bands out of a certain area tend to have a particular aura to their sound.

At The Gates would be my example. They sound different from their American counterparts just because of a certain way they play and certain chords they use over others.

It's like they've got their own particular set of scales over there that they ban us Americans from knowing about.

Easy now Mr noob. Just take it easy. This sights lot can be very course, not to mention the MTPD, aka mods, have mercy on your soul.

Do some leg work before you post a declaration here. Use this sight to learn more about metal before you subject yourself to oral diarrhea.

There are many American bands that are respected and followed worldwide. They have been for decades.

leg work...

Respected? Yes. Innovative? No.

They were just aftermaths of another scene that began somewhere else.

Also, there's a sound I'm talking about as well. Something that us Americans just haven't been able to reproduce properly, but bands out that area seem to have no problem doing it.

Innovative? Yes. You're a narrow-minded, under-exposed douchebag. Don't listen to yourself. If you had even half an idea of how much innovation came from America (let's start the lesson with jazz and work our way forward), you'd be disgusted with yourself for starting this thread.

European music tends to wear classical influences on its sleeves; American music tends not to. That's the entire divide you're describing. It's not original to you, it's not interesting, and it has nothing to do with the superiority of European music (in most cases, by the way, incorporating centuries old work into your own is not considered innovative).

Now, do us a favor and learn a little bit about music before starting a thread with bold declarations about it.

I'd just like to quickly add that the entire genre of heavy metal was created by Europeans who were mimicking a form of music totally innovated by Americans and no one else.

-Jazz
-Blues
-Rock 'n Roll
-Country
-Hip-Hop

Fair enough to say American innovations in the broad field of music speaks much more loudly than some tunnel-visioned (and incorrect) notion of lack of contributions to the relatively miniscule range of underground metal.

It's easy to see that you were irritated by the ineloquent scrutiny of your original post, but let it be known that those of us who know how to use our words more sharply than you can also see that your post was invalid. Regardless of how simply they may have put it, they were 100% right in questioning the validity of your argument.

I'd also like to point out this is considerably nicer than we need to be with know-it-all newbies who start out here by flaunting their overwhelmingly fallacious hypotheses and then lashing out at those who were kind enough to lend a helping hand by grabbing the back of their turtleneck sweaters to pull their heads out of their uptight, constricted asses.
