who plays jackson guitars out there?
just wondering who plays jacksons out there. i love my warrior, good sound great feel....i'd like to know how other jacksons stack up, specifically in the neck dept. the neck on this axe is the biggest most crucial reason i bought it. i was looking at kellys, and the more expensive model warrior, but i don't have the opportunity to try them out first hand. i'm stationed in okinawa, and there are only 2 guitar stores here, with little to no jackson merchandise....anyway, any advice would be welcome...thanx in advance....by the way this neck is more or less on the slim side width wise, and not too wide, just pretty much fast and comfortable as shit....

the jackson site should tell you the dimensions of the neck, just make sure theyre the same if you love the neck you have. i think jackson uses a standard size for all their necks anyhow.
as far as how they stack up the ones i have played that are in the same 'league' are usually same quility, you cant compare their 2-300$ bottom end POS with their higher end ones. (obviously)
check out whats around you though, i have heard japan has some pretty high quility instruments of their own go to a shop and see whats going on there, i wouldnt limit to just a jackson (if you are)

What brand name is on the headstock is one of the most misleading quality indications. I have played shitty jacksons as well as jacksons that were fucking incredible - the quality difference is immense between the different models and sometimes also between guitars that are the same model.
Of course if you are an arrogant asshole you'd want a brand name everybody thinks kick ass so you can show off and get laid, but else.. you get the idea. I get more compliments for my totally shitty mex. Fender than my excellent Caparison, and it sort of pisses me off..

I got a Jackson Kelly. It's the base model, but it's comfortable and plays well.

the stores out there dont even carry the jackson stars? theyre jacksons made just for japan or distributed by a jap company or somthing (im sure someone else knows for sure) but i hear theyre super high quility, not sure if the headstock actually says jackson though so you may have overlooked them, but its another branch of the jackson family

I play a Jackson DXMG and it feels like the neck was designed for my hand. Just pretty perfect for me.

They are built to the same specs as the USA models and built by the best people in their Japanese mfg. plant, so they pretty much kick ass but they don't export them for some reason (probably to keep the USA division running).

i've got a jackson dinky (dkmgt) and the neck is amazingly smooth and thin. it makes the wizard ii neck on my ibanez feel thick, but i still love playing my rg.
as for okinawa, i've been there. check out a music and guitar shop in okinawa city called teruya music. when i was there, they had a lot of guitars, though i don't remember the brand selection.

the thing i noticed about the jacksons comming out of japan(after 2002) had a really 'dry' looking fret board. like, all the guitars previous to 2002 used ebony for their fret board, and it didnt have any dust resedue left on it. it doenst affect the playability all TOO much, but its just the way it looks. i mean, if i am going for a jackson, i would either expect to get the best, or not get it at all. but thats just me.
if you're looking for something that looks great, feels great, and sounds great, try looking into some Cort guitars. some of their higher end guitars like the X series or the EVL. besides, it is cort that makes fender stratocaster, schetcher(sp), and some other guitar. so they know how to make their stuff

Hmm, the neck on my Jackson KVX10 feels like a baseball bat compared to my Hamer Diablo, it's wider and a lot thicker, feels nice for rythms but my Hamer blows it away in general
