How good are these headphones?
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sennheiser-RS11...QcmdZViewI tem
While recording with a PC sound interface(ie: think M-box or Presonus Firebox) I'd need some headphones or monitors to hear what it's gonna sound like, thing is I don't wanna be tied down to the computer screen while playing because of a headphone cable to avoid all the hum/hiss brought about by playing next to the screen.
It's definitely in my price range and I know you can't go wrong with Sennheiser, but just one question. These headphones work with RF. Is there any possibility that the headphones could somehow interact with the preamp/amp I would be using with direct recording? Like could the FM signal be picked up by the preamp even if it's direct recording? I use a boss NS2 with my amp anyway but I was just wondering if this would be a problem or not. I think I'm gonna nab a pair of these.

From past decisions i find headphones under 60 bucks are not all that great.

Those look more like the type people use around their house for TV or listening to their stereo, not studio work.

Correct, that's really what it's for, but I have not found any other wireless monitoring headphones within my price range.
I'm not looking for super accurate faithful reproduction, if I needed that I'd get monitors, I would just be using this to be able to hear my guitar and drum track while recording direct without being tied down to the PC screen. My signal chain will be very good so I'd be getting good sound quality out of my recordings, but perhaps not super great monitoring while recording so that's not a big concern for me.
I'm not very concerned with the sound quality of the thing, it'll still sound better than my 40$ computer speakers. I just need to be able to jam/record late at night without any headphone cable getting in the way.
Does anyone know if somehow the radio waves it works with will interact with my amp when recording?

Yeah, those are alright.
I've used them for similar situations and they perform pretty good, being wireless was no problem for me.

I was at virgin today, apparently "shure" has gotten into the ipod/zune earbud business.
shure earbuds - 300 fucking dollars.
I wish I couldve tried them out, but they were locked up behind a half inch of bullet proof glass. Im sure that theyre probably the best set ever made just because it carries the shure label, but come on, who's going to pay 300 dollars for earbuds that you cant even try first.
I just got some 20 dollar jvc insulated fitting buds, theyre better than my 90 dollar studio headset.

those shure earbuds.... i have them. theyre like surround sound in your skull, while muting everything out around you, sooo good.. It's all about the e4c's. Theyre LOUD, with my old ipod headphones (1st generation ipod mini, used, 2-3 years old) i had to run the volume around 60-75%, but now i run it at about 30-40%.
But anyways, soeru, for your question. Sennheiser makes fucking pimp headphones, my friend's senn's (not wireless) put my sister's Bose headphones to shame. They're amazingly clear, bass response is beauty, and they have amazing value for their price. Whoever said headphones less than 60$ are crap clearly has never heard sennheisers. I highly recommend.

Thx bleeding.
I think I will be getting this now, unless someone can shed some light if the fact that it's wireless will somehow interfere with my amp while recording direct.

i've only ever heard wireless (radio) waves affecting the cones of speakers while there is current in them, like that wierd beeping sound speakers make when a cellphone is about to ring. Since you're recording direct, it shouldnt do anything at all.

Yeah I got that kinda thing with my Fireball and my 4x12. I could somehow pick up radio stations at low volumes even with my Boss NS-2 on with my EMG guitar... wtf.
Cool thanks, that's what I thought originally, since there is no speaker there should be no background noise or waves seeping into the speakers.

radio stations eh... i got that when i used my EMG guitar with a badly sheilded cable. See if you can put that copper stuff inside the control cavity and get a better guitar cable...

Yeah my Blue voodoo does this when its been running for awhile. I can pick up AM channels.
Its something to do with the amp and not guitar so those things definately wouldn't fix the problem. I know cause i've removed the guitar comletely from it haha.

eh, i've only experienced this problem with a bad cable. I replaced the cable and then instantly had no radio signal at all... even with a +20dB preamp on.

ime sennheiser is very overrated. when i was shopping for monitor phones i tried a bunch of their models (not the one you listed however). poor construction / uncomfortable, and poor performance for the price. you could get sony's for around that price and they'd probably be better. go try them out first ... local electronics shops should have all that budget stuff on display.

Definately not my case. Both are good monster cables. Sometimes it can be as a result of poor conditioned electricity, but i'm almost positive the blue voodoo isn't that either. It definately sounds noisy as hell when plugged into a dirty port. There is one in my house that is just disqusting, how much fuzz it has.
They were showing me at guitar center this power conditioner where you can turn off all sound EXCEPT the noise that it takes out, it was pretty gross how disqusting some unclean ports can be.
