Digitech JamMan
Searched and couldn't find anything regarding someone actually using the pedal. Is it any good? It seems really nice, lotsa storage, able to upload to your computer. I've read the practicing over chord progressions can really tone your ear and improve your playing, not to mention is looks like a helluva lot of fun
So has anyone tried it? Do you reccommend another option? I don't plan on going live with it, just bedroom use.

I looked into getting one of these to solve my problem of being a lonely guitarist, but I found it more practical and useful to go with some specific recording hardware.. One, it was alot cheaper... my audio interface was only $85. Second, I get better sound quality... 24 bit. If you get one, post how you like it.

Hmm, what is your set-up davie?
My main issue is that my desktop is currently a piece of shit, and my laptop is alright but I can't modify it, ya know? So this solution, the JamMan, 'seems' like a good idea but I'm just looking for firsthand experience.
edit: Checking out YouTubes of it...seems pretty cool

It's Trivium songs but you get to hear/see the use of it really well.
edit2: just searching youtube for JamMan is actually the best bet.

Yeah they would be cool if it weren't so cheap and easy to grab a good audio interface for your PC and some software and use that with it. However it's a cool toy if you don't like to play near your comp too much(or don't have one. ).
It would be extremely cool to play a riff or two and have them loop being sent to another amp, so it would feel a lot more like 2 guitarists. .
Btw what software allows you to do looping and overdubbing like a jamman easily? I hear Line 6's RiffTracker does exactly this but I'm not sure if you can use it without buying their GuitarPort thing.

I'm using a Tascam US-122 audio interface going usb into my pc. The system specs for this particular interface are not high as long as you have USB 2.0 and a decent amount of memory, your ok.

OK,
Here's just a quick thing I just did. I didn't EQ any of it, just recorded it. Take into consideration, I dont' know much about recording so you could definitely get alot better production than what I'm getting. I'm just hackin it to get by. Let me know what you think...

That sounded pretty horrible, were you going direct without a DI box? That's kinda what it sounds like.

Thanks! That was direct in guitar/line level. I didn't use the D.I. Box so he wouldn't get the wrong impression of what it would sound like.

The connection is as follows:
Guitar --(line in)--> Tascam --(USB)--> Computer
I used my computer and recording software to export the mp3. Understand?

If you mics, you will get alot better sound quality and production. I just can't use mics due to my living situation right now.

Yep, my dilemma too, hence I'm going the direct route because my house is noisy and it sucks when you wanna play full blast on the weekends or weekday afternoons but the family is taking a siesta. A Palmer PDI-09 here costs the same as a Shure Sm57 lol. A bit more expensive in the US though, but worth it, they really make it sound like a genuine miked V30 cab.
I'd love to be able to mic but I just cant now.

Just curious, if you mic it, what is the chain?( I suppose that in that case you must have higher end sound card).

When I worked at guitar center I used to fuck around with it. Its VERY cool and VERY easy to use. A worthy purchase if I do say so myself.

Mic>Interface>PC.
You don't need a "higher end" interface, most already come with XLR-ins/mic pres.

Yea, actually, you don't need much of a sound card at all! The sound card doesn't do any of audio processing. Most audio interface devices use USB as their means of getting the data to the computer.
