orange thunderverb for death metal?
okay so im getting a little tired of my krank's limited array of sounds. i want a amp with a brutal sound that can bust my nuts like a hammer, but also have good cleans so i can play a little jazz metal(ex. alarum, cynic, atheist, ect.) now, im looking at orange because it's a little company(or so i think) but also i've never heard nothing bad about them. well i came across thier ad bout the thunderverb saying it's going to be a standard for metal. so, what do you guys think about this, or should i look into more company's like mesa, engl ect.

orange is a big company. They've been around for about 60 years (if you include the years when they were partnered with Matamp). These things are high end pure tube tone monsters.
Nobody here has tried the tunderverb to the extent of my knowledge, and nobody has any idea what it sounds like, because these things are brand new, fucking expensive, and pushing a 200w tube powersection is... just... crazy.
Oranges however, are realllly fuckin nice, but from what i've played and heard, they don't exactly get brutal by themselves. The closest thing i can compare it to (from my knowledge) is a modded marshall or laney, that has a smoother less fizzy distortion, and has a earthshaking low end. Oranges (and matamps for that matter) are known especially well for their ability to handle low tunings while remaining crystal clear. With a boost, you could shake your house apart.
If you can find a thunderverb, fuckin try it out and tell us all how sweet is is
if its not for you, i'd take Engl over Mesa any day.

Right...
Pretty much what bleeding said. But don't for a moment think Orange Cabs are the shit. In fact, they are high Ohm OMFG shit expensive stuff with cheap gay orange vinyl. The amp heads are worth having, but not for metal. I've used them and... I just don't get really good metal. You decide for yourself.

if it's like the ad series, it's not metal... if it's like the rockerverbs, it'll handle metal.

All i can say is that the 530's clean aren't realy jazzy, but they are very good, you can really hear the strings and attack and it somewhat resembles an acoustic. You can emulate jazz by running the bass a little high and mids and treble somewhere around noon but it isn't that great for those cleans..
And the 530's high gain is a little thin and shallow for heavy death metal rhythm work but it packs an amazing lead tone, and if your setup is very bassy and chuggy (the 530's a little "dry" sounding on the chugs) it might fit in pefectly, you decide. It's called "modern rock" for a reason though, it's more screamo rock'n'roll / punk oriented i feel.
