Jackson DK2 info
Do any of you guys own a Jackson DK2.. .the one with chrome hardware. Whats the difference between that one and the one with black hardware? I bought the guitar but not sure exactly which dk model it is.
this is the pic

Anyways, it sounds real good on the bridge pickup. Sounds similar to the Satriani JS100 ibanez. Any opinions on the DK2 though?

I think I have the exact same guitar. Does yours have Duncan licensed pickups like mine does? Usually DK2's are made with the real Seymour Duncans for about $700 but mine had the licensed versions and only cost about $450 bucks.

sound wise, i believe there shouldnt be a difference between the black hard ware, and the chrome....or atleast if the guitar was made BEFORE the fender take over VS the Jackson guitar AFTER the fender take over.
errm...dont know if i'm making much sense here, but Jackson guitars made before 2002 kicked serious ass. guitars made after 2002 under Jackson kick ass...not so hard as the jacksons before 2002.
RAWR!

Before '05, the dk-2s came with a jt580-lp and Duncan Designed pickups. '06-present, they come stock with Seymour Duncans (jb, 2 singles) and the bridge is the same design as the 580-lp, but is reported to be made out of a harder metal. Construction-wise, they are identical.
If I had to choose, I'd rather save a few hundred dollars and pick up a used pre-06 dk2 and use some of the saved money to replace the bridge and pickups with better ones. Probably still be cheaper than a new one.

i would actually go for a cort guitar. either their EVL series, or Their X series come with EMG pickups and their X seires are relatively cheap at about 300 US. and their EVL series are a hole lot more expensive at about 700. sucks, but EVLs are so beautiful
but yeah, if you are getting a jackson for the name, buy it, but dont forget to replace their god-forsaken pickups!

The bridge hum-b sounds great, im not a fan of the singles though. Yeah, i think its an '05 model?? They said it was "last years" model which im sure meant '05. I can barely even find a pic of this guitar on the internet... with the chrome hardware like mine.

I actually loved those duncan picups, alot of the times i prefer the duncans over active EMGs. Really nice hum to the tone, imo of course.

Right, I thought the licensed floyds came with all the DK2 or else I'd have mentioned that. Was that incorrect?

yeah i bought a beautiful transparent black DKMGT on eBay, brand new in the box. the new Fender-Jackson version has active EMGs, but it also costs twice what i paid and it doesn't have the EMG turbocharger that mine has. so if i spend $160 or so on a pair of actives, i am still well under the cost of the new model, plus i got the turbocharger. the bridge is not an issue because it's a string-through.

^ it's an active gain booster that you control from a push-pull knob and you roll it to add up to 20db of gain. i believe EMG calls it the AfterBurner.
