really? what do you think about the fretboards?
i assume your esp has an ebony board. how does the quality of the fretboards compare?

alot of people on the esp boards go on about how inferior ran's ebony boards are in comparison to esp.
what do you think, i wanna hear it from someone who has both.

Damn...its hard to say off the top of my head. I have that green steph ESP except mine is a 6 string.

I'll have to compare the two to give you a better answer though.

Honestly, for the price, just get a damn Ran already. You've been talking about it for about a year or more am I right? Do it completely to YOUR specs. Fuck, even get an inlay personalized to the exact size and shape of your dick, hell i know i'd do it if i had the cash. Figure out what you want, and make the guitar of your dreams... and then name it "carmen electra" or "victoria's secret model" or "avril lavigne" or "mick thompson" or after some other random you might want to have sex with... But dont get the guitar of Stephen Carpenter's dreams, what the fuck is the point of that? If you're guna blow a fat creamy wad of cash, it might as well be on something that only your wad should land on.

i see what your saying, but lately i have been really impressed by esp, and that SC-7 is my ideal seven string. so why wait half a year just to get the same guitar made by ran?

but if i was to get a six string guitar it would be a different story, i would get a ran version of this:

thats just jaw droppingly amazing, the only thing i would change is the 12th fret inlay and the logos on the headstock.

im sure there will be quite a few takers on the esp boards, if not there, try the harmony central board. i doubt you will find anyone here

What the fuck's it matter if it's Stephen Carpenter's guitar? Jesus, that's by far the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Maybe that guitar has everything User01 might ever want in a guitar. So I guess all guys playing RR1's should be ashamed that they got Randy's dream guitar and not their own. Or anyone with a LP should be ashamed they couldn't get their custom guitar because it's Les Paul's guitar.....if it fits his needs, what fucking difference does it make?

If you sat down and thought about it for a second, you would realize that Les Pauls and RR's are iconic, and very often, people dont associate them with the person they're named after. When you go to a show, you dont look at a dude with a les paul and say "hes playing les paul's guitar" You dont say "that dude is playing randy rhoads' guitar". When it comes to Carpenter's, his signature is sometimes splayed right across the fretboard, and when you see it, you say "Hey, that is the stephen carpenter sig. model..." and some ignorant peopel will continue with something along the lines of "...he must love deftones, nu metal faggot" and so on. Les paul's and RR's have been modified and butchered so much over the years, there is probably nothing EXACTLY to the artist's specs, very much unlike the carpenter sig model that has just been released. As far as i'm concerned, your examples wear the name as a badge and nothing else: they are not designed by the artists anymore, and are not theirs to claim.

And the Steph Carpenter model is basically an ESP M-series that's green and a diff. pickup config. big deal. I think most people could care less about "Oh my gawd you must be a Steph Carpenter fan, nu-metal faggot". As if his guitar has anything to do with the player...

its based on the esp horizon, but yea, your right. people's opinion will be based on the music you play, not the guitar or gear you use. im sure cannibal corpse wouldnt lose a single fan if pat came out on stage with a pink telecaster (providing it sounded just as brutal).
and plus, im sure most people will look at that SC guitar and say damn, thats a fine axe, blank ebony board, emg's, kick ass finish. its not like it has an obnoxious inlay like the other versions of his sig or like the mick thomson signature ibanez.

The real thing you have to wonder is are they just talking out the ass without really knowing? Have they ever really played or inspected a Ran up close? There are not nearly as many Ran guitars in the world as there are ESP and even fewer Ran guitars on this side of the world. I've played and seen hundreds of ESP guitars ( some nice custom stuff and some not so nice stock shit) but I've only ever seen one other Ran guitar besides my own. I seen Decapitated used one beat up old ass Ran guitar for the whole set in 2006. Awesome show btw.

I was the first to have a custom Ran guitar in North America and I got that in the summer of 2004. Funny thing is I didn't learn I was the first until months later. Also mine was the first with a Kahler bridge. I mailed Dariusz the first Kahler he had ever seen. The guitar a gem of craftsmenship and history. I can't speak for all Ran guitars because they are so rare. I haven't had a chance to compare my Ran to other Ran guitars. I can however compare my Ran to others ESP guitars that I have played and inspected. The ebony FB on my Ran is AAAA+ and just as great as the best ESP I've ever seen and played or any other guitar for that matter. I really like ESP guitars and there are a few I would love own but its the price that drives me to look for quality in other guitars. Ran has that quality and Poland is the Mexico of Europe. Think about what that means for a second.

Also, 6 months isn't that long a wait. Just check the wait on any other custom handmade guitar. Anything under a year for delivery is lightspeed fast.
