Guitar Recording questions

Hi once again!

So, we are going to record our first CD.
First we didnīt want to double the guitar tracks, but most people said that itīs just standard etc. and so we are going to record every guitar part twice (since we have two guitars, we will have 4 guitar tracks for every song then).

We will record the guitars with the toneport ux2 interface by line6. We just have a problem with finding the right guitar sounds.

I have uploaded a few short samples of different settings, you may want to listen to them and give me some feedback.

However, whatīs important? I mean, our music-style is basically death metal...but I donīt know what the best settings for a recording could be.
Bass?Mids?Treble? and especially: how much gain? (considering that we will double the guitars).

Iīm happy about any advice...just post please.

If anyone has good saved settings for the tonpeort, you maybe can post it as well.

Thanks already!

Notes: You don't have a Neve 1073, any Studer or GML gear, so use the gear you have. The parts about mid placement and tone tuning are the most important. If you have used a parametric EQ before (or have one) it sould be fairly simple to either EQ like he does or adjust to fit on a graphic.

(Cheats for making guitar fix nice in the mix: Turn the gain down two notches, turn mids up one notch)

Are you recording the guitars direct? What is your set up?

When you double the guitars you don't have to always use the same tones. You could record once with your normal settings, then you could record again but instead of recording normaly switch to you single coil pickup and get a thinner sound out of your guitar. That would make the guitars seem a little fuller.
