Fender bridges
- I just bought a Fender strat, and I have this bridge on it as of right now. If I get a fender deluxe tremelo, will I be able to pull up and down as I would with a floyd rose? If anyone here has a fender, what kind of bridge do you use, and how well does it stay in tune?
- I have an extra licensed floyd laying around, and today when I changed strings, I mocked up what it would look like if I were to put it on. To make it work, the neck would obviously have to get shimmed up, a lot. Has anyone here ever shimmed a neck up to match the height of a tremolo?

You can pull up only a little bit. They usually tend to stay in tune fine.

Word, why didn't you seek out an old Fender HM strat or similar floyd strat?

Because I couldn't find a Fender Highway 1 with a floyd rose. If you're not going to be helpful then don't bother posting

i wouldnt shim up the neck, cant you make a cavity in the body for the floyd, so it sinks in the body more??
and you should be able to [pull up just a little wtih that deluxe tremolo, but dont expet to much of it, its not a floating trem, so the reach of pulling up and divebombing wont be realy spectacular.. its more for vibrato-ish stuff.
but that realy depends on what you want

Yeah don't expect to be able to do flutters or Dimebag squeals with that thing. And if you post here you probably don't need just a little vibrato for old fart blues. I personally suggest selling the thing and picking up a HM strat or similar on ebay(Kramer, Charvel, etc.), they're not that uncommon.

I had this dilemma before. Only a Floyd or Kahler can do that kind of stuff. You will always be left cold and usually out of tune if you try anything floyd-like on a fulcrum tremolo.

Well obviously it'll go out of tune if you're wanking on it like Steve Vai.....You're probably better off w/ a super strat.

I hope you have access to routing gear and people that know how to use it properly, cuz getting it professionally routed will cost you an assload.
