Problem with index fingure

I have a slight problem... My index fingure is sometimes barely touching the smallest string when I try to play chords and makes that sound when you are touching a string but not holding it down.... any suggestions to help it?

Change the position of your thumb on the back of the neck, move it to the middle of the neck so your fingers stick out more.
