Black Metal ...
Am i the only one on this board that HATES black metal?the vocals are terrible,music is boring and band names? absolutely gut wrenching. So i am going to ask why would anyone listen to black metal when you can listen to some Death or Thrash metal? Even Metalcore is better than Black metal.Sorry i had to vent

I agree although claiming metalcore is better is just plain silly. I don't like most BM, it feels uninspiring save for a handful of bands. The only bands that escape the wrath of my unholy fag-hammer are Negator, Behexen, some folky shit, Immortal, early Bathory, and a myriad of black/death/thrash bands, but they probably don't constitute as BM by the most BM elitist standards.
The rest I've bothered to listen to pretty much blows donkey rectum.

But wouldn't it be boring if there wasn't other genres good and bad in the music scene, it's just one style that adds to the pallet. If you don't like it avoid it, if there are plenty of other bands you could be better using your time to track down and listen to.

Definately, variety is great, it just so happens that I find black metal uninteresting in general. It could've been great if it didn't succumb to cliches and poor-musicianship-with-a-shock-value bands ruining everything.
I'll give this band a listen and see what they're like.

Meh, I don't like stuff with too much synths, this is just a tad too cheesy. And I'm surprised that's considered "real" black metal.
On a side-note, Sólstafir are a kickass band from Iceland. They used to be a sort of viking/black kinda band, but they've evolved into some really kickass thing that just sounds amazing, no genre label for it. Guess you could say progressive cuz the songs are long as fuck, but it never gets boring, it's incredibly thick atmospheric music with some black, indie rock, hardcore and thrash influences but even that's too limited to describe what they sound like. Give them a listen, especially their last album.

Requiem, your so magnificently magically awesome! But seriously Black metal kicks ass.Sometimes shitty production on some CD's(Battles In The North) bugs me, but yeah it's all good. Melodic, Stmphonic, 1st wave, 2nd wave, all that shit.

Anyway just avoid Black Metal like the plague if you dont like it. My god its not hard, i avoid the radio around here for the simple fact all they play is AFI, Lost Prophets, and other fagore bans. I dont totally dislike Death Metal and Black Metal with an undying passion. I can take the more ?lighter? stuff. Bands like ?Wyrd?, Battlelore, ETC...... Sometimes i can take the harder bands but not too much like ?Sodom?, ingurgitating oblivion, infinity, ETC....but not too much of it.
