Amebix
Who's into this band? Definitely my favorite band of all time. I even got an Amebix tattoo on my arm :P

I never really saw Amebix as over hyped. They inspired a whole new movement in music.

Pretty good. Not enough for me to get a tattoo
PS. to Humanbattery: I noticed you guys were playing with Murder Of Crows. Would that be the one from Madison? If so they are cool guys, I played with them at a grind fest last May.

They "started" the genre crust punk. Filthy, faster hardcore with a more metallic edge (is how I would describe it)

Amebix werent very fast at all. And if you listen to stuff like Axegrinder, its rather slow.

True, I like Copeater as well. I wish you didn't live so far from Chicago because I'd like to play a show with you guys.
Back on topic, I heard they were getting back together, but I'm 98% sure it was complete bullshit.

Oh, we're definitely going on tour this summer.
Amebix are definitely not reforming nor is it likely they ever will.
They are releasing a DVD on Alternative Tentacles sometime soon with 2 live shows, and interviews and shit.
I also hear Rob Miller is trying to re-release the old Winter EP, Who's The Enemy EP, and No Sanctuary 12".
Rob Miller(bassist/singer) is also being interviewed in a DVD for the book "The Day the Country Died", a history of the anarcho-punk movement. I think this is already out.

Speaking of that. Would you have any idea if "The Decline Of The Western Civilization III" is ever comming out on DVD. You seem like a guy who knows his crust shit.

Amebix were a band I was aware of but didn't really pay much attention to back in the 80's. It appears to me anyway that they were a largely ignored band who seem to be named dropped frequently by bands today as if it's 'cool' to name check them.

Amebix are just awesome. In the Crust scene they aren't ignored at all.
I always hear they had influence on some black metal, as far as the atmosphere and lyrics go.

That cover is so fucking bad ass. There have been I believe 2 tribute albums to Amebix, a Japanese tribute more recently, and a Brazilian tribute that I've never been able to find. Their first 3 records were never released on CD and the vinyl was only pressed once, and had an extremely large Killing Joke influence(though much darker sounding), however I believe their second 12" Arise! is still in print with a bonus 7" which you can find for about 9 US dollars, and the CD is still available as well. Their last 12" Monolith(which is recognized as their most metal material) is long out of print and I believe the CD is as well, however the music for all of their records are very easy to find on Soulseek. You can also check out some of their stuff on these myspace fan pages:
http://www.myspace.com/amebixuk
http://www.myspace.com/amebixcrust
and this page has one of their older songs. its very reminiscent of Killing Joke's the Wait at certain points. Definitely not as metal as their more recognized stuff.

Possibly. Just hook me up with a list and tell me what you wanna trade. Don't leave out the metal stuff!
