the truss rod
if you don't know what a truss rod is, hit the back button...
i got a question for the guitar neck truss rod:
how do you know what to tighten it or loosen it to?
what i'm trying to say is, when you buy really heavy strings
for a mediocure neck, there is a way to straighten the neck
so the strings won't bend the neck upward. like if you tighten it,
the neck gets sturdier(for heavy strings) and vise versa...
i already have enugh springs in the tremelo, i just want to know
how to change from,...let's say, 9s to 12s(estring). that big of a change
in tension will bend the neck.
all i know is, is that on an electric guitar, the rod screw is at the peg part
of the neck, and ends at the base next to the pickups...and on an acoustic,
the rod screw is at the base next to that hole, and the end is at the pegs...
i dont want to fuck with it now or it will ruin my guitar

a lot of people have different guitars for different tunings and gauges of strings so that they wont have that chance to fuck their guitar up....there is no 100% way to keep your neck from bending if you switch on and off all the time to different gauges or tunings.....or at least thats what i've heard. I'm not takeing chances w/ my guitars so i just always use .009 strings (E) on my Jackson RRIT and heavier gauge strings on my Warlock....(soon that peice of shit warlock will be replaced by a Jackson Soloist 1)

well, mines a jackson JSX-94 Concept
and so far i've switched from .009(Ddario) to .010(dr)
that amount of a change doesnt really affect the neck, but definately
if something like .012 would...

alright, what u mean is that if the strings tension make ur neck go up from the body???
then yeah...you may have to tight it at the upper part of the neck, those ones that are around the machinar, around where u tune....dunno what is called in english hehe...well...but if u have a good guitar....new...good brand, then it shall resist .30-1.60 strins man....with the time it might get a little bit up...and one thing ya could do also is to take out the neck and check if u need to put something ir clean it...dunno....i might ask a friend who knows bout this....but i guess the only thing that affect your guitar in that thing is the time....//to fix it you only need to adjust it...//

Word of advice for messing with the truss rod....
If your not experienced in doing it, at least take it to a tech and let them show you the first time. I've seen one too many guitar necks shot to hell becuase the guy went too hard on the rod.
