Crappy amp help
so i have a marhsall 3owattDFX and it sucks....
you just can't juice out enoguh gain or volume out of it. Is there an amp that i won't have to spend a lot on but can still get gain and volume? Im not sure about pedals, all the ones iv'e seen didn't look good for DM. (my fav.. badns are in my sig)

I suggest selling the amp. Pool the $ with some more cash and hunt down an old Ampeg SS-70(1x12 combo) or SS-70C(2x10") or if you wanna go a bit further the legendary VH-140C(even more high gain, 2x12" or in head format).
If you absolutely need to go with a tube amp then I suggest a Crate Stealth GT-50(1x12" amp), though the thing eats tubes like a mofo so be prepared to swap them out often. They sell for 200-300$, same with Crate Blue Voodoo 1x12's, also a nifty buy, though it succumbs to some minor component failures here and there(input jack, and some cases even the power transformer which is a bit of a big issue, but the amp is great).
Edit:
The Peavey Bravo is awesome too. 25W all tube 1x12 combo, ridiculously loud! They go for 200-300$ these days perhaps less.
Also search ebay for the Peavey Triumph and Ultra combos, the predecessors to the XXX.
By the way before you ask, yes all of these will pull of high gain enough for death metal.

Rofl they're all great choices. If you need assloads of volume in a small package and don't mind replacing tubes often, get the Peavey Ultra/Triumph or Crate GT-50(it's lee jackson designed). The Peavey doesn't eat tubes too much though. Only go with the peavey if you like the sound of the XXX however, go to a store and try it, it should be very similar.
If you don't mind it being solidstate(shoudn't MATTER if it sounds good), then get an Ampeg VH/SS combo.

If you are on a super tight budget then I suggest the Peavey Studio Pro 112, 65w SS but damn it was loud, easily keep up with a drummer. Not sure about gain, but it always sounded pretty crunchy for me. You could find one of those under $100 I reckon. Pedal wise I absolutely love the Electro-Harmonix Metal Muff. Easily the best distortion pedal you can buy, just check all the recent mag reviews and Harmony-Central. But Yeah I agree with Soeru, if you can find the Ampeg go with that. Maybe pickup a Celestion G12k-100 speaker as well which would add a tighter bottom end. You could probably get all three for $200 and it would sound pretty damn nice.

Nah I'd stay away from modern Asian made Peavey Solidstates. The only Peavey SS I've heard good things about is the the Renown 400, a 210W RMS 2x12 amp. I don't know about the sound but I do know it's one of the most reliable amps ever.
Hey man check this out!:
http://cgi.ebay.com/Ampeg-Guitar-Co...1QQcmdZViewItem
With upgraded speakers and input jacks, hot damn! If you buy that you'll be one happy camper for ages with it. I'm only posting this because I probably can't afford the shipping costs to my place, otherwise I would've been all hush hush cuz I'm gassing for it!

dude... a head doesnt have any speakers in it, and an amp wont make noise without speakers.
and i already believe we established the fact that the vh140-c has br00tal suffocation dying fetus distortion.

Grab that shizzle my nizzle. You'll be very pleased with it if you run it through a decent cab.

Yeah I wanted to bid on that one, but the fuckers wont ship internationally. Why not get the VH140C combo, they show up a lot more often, but if money and weight/size is a big issue then yeah get the SS-70. The SS-70 doesn't have the balls in the poweramp that the VH has, but it'll still knock your balls out of your scrotum in a much smaller package.
Will it do oldschool Suffo like Effigy or Gorguts like Erosion of Sanity(!!!)? Most certainly yes, it'll do Nile too although they really use all-tube Marshall heads.
If you don't mind waiting/have the money I suggest waiting out a week or 2 more for a VH140C because they're said to be a bit more reliable(they're more modern than the old SS's) and sound a bit better for super high gain stuff, also apparently easy to find at pawn shops/2nd hand instrument shops in the US.

Boost pedals typically dont sound very good with SS amps.

If you want to be 100% satisfied wait a week or 2(or a month) on ebay or hit up some local pawn shops or 2nd hand instrument dealers and pick up a VH.

I just saw an SS 140C on ebay, and apparently it is identical to the VH so i am going to bid on it ok? is this a good one or is it a little bit more toned down on the gain like aforsaid. This is good right?

Yeah, nearly identical sound, just a slight less amount of balls in the poweramp I hear. But not enough to make any substantial difference. If it's in good condition and the price is right, get it.
Vh140C combo -300-450$
SS140C combo -250-350$
Looking at the bands in your sig, you are going to cum when you hear the amp.
