I have had an idea after reading the new guitar world to bulid my self a new guitar. Now when i say build i mean by new parts. What is a good site where i can buy necks and bodys?

And how hard is this task?

Well, if you're just buying a neck and a body, then all the hardware/ electronics, it's fairly easy, just a case of putting the parts together!

The only problem is, you would have to make sure the neck fits the body before buying either, don't want the wrong scale length neck or one the wrong size to join to the body...

That was a really long time ago, when $200 was a lot more. Nowadays you'll be shelling out at least $130 (total) just for your pickups.

only if your pups are second hand... or duncan designed

man... a singel GOOD passive is 80-100 bucks by itself. And then handmade ones up to 200-300.

warmoth would be the place i'd go for all that stuff....

Pickups... well if i ever did a custom, i'd put in a Bareknuckle and a dimarzio... and warmoth doesnt offer those... so i dunno where you'd wanna go for them goodies.

also, if you order from warmoth (the body and the neck) ive heard some people who orderen body and necks from them, and they all sayd they fitted perfectly. not to cheap though,. there should be places to get good bodies and or neck for lower prices than warmoth, but warmoth has alot of choice abnd they make good stuff.

i would say warmoth (although the fuckers don't let you come in and pick up $1 buck parts from their warehouse) i'd say them most definitely...i ordered a floyd rose and it was perfect...if i plan on building a new guitar i'll probably go through them unless i feel i have the skill to make my own neck-through

you know... some people should look into local luthiers. My guitar teach has an old gibson melody maker that had the headstock broken off (common melody maker problem) and got the fingerboard taken off (it was brazillian rosewood) and put onto a new neck which was set back into the guitar (set neck) for 400$. Then of course he gets a bunch of hardware and custom wound lindy frailin single coils that humbuck when the switch is in th emiddle positino.

Jackson Stealth EX on ebay...it is a discontinued model but is just like a soloist...basswood body...only problem is that it is a H/S/S...you could mod that though...and a clone floyd rose...

realy depends, what humbuckers, some good pickups are already 100 a piece, same for tremolo, a good floys is like 200 i think (im talking about NEW part prices btw).


the neck wont be too hard, look on ebay, there should be plenty of necks for sale, a proper one will maybe cost 50 bux.

i dno about the body, most strats are either alder or ash (or swamp ash wich is even more expensive than alder and ash). do you want the body finishes and all, or just unfinished wood??.
