What are some of the cooler concept albums you can think of, whether it's musically, lyrically or both?
Deeds of Flesh - Inbreeding the Anthropophagi
King Diamond - Conspiracy
King Diamond - Them
Iced Earth - The Glorious Burden
Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime
Dream Theater - Scenes From a Memory
It would be cool if some of the more extreme bands would do this sortof thing, but it hasn't quite happened that way so far.

define concept album? alot of albums that take the tag 'concept' follow a theme. what about albums that simply have a strong 'concept'?

I think the rule of thumb is that anything that seems like it could be a concept album is a concept album, regardless of authorial intent.
