Crate Blue Voodoo clip...

Just happened to come across this very nice clip on the www and I figured it might be very useful for those out there interested in buying a blue voodoo:

http://www.sicksdeep.com/blewdoodoo.mp3

It's being run with no pedal/boost at all.

That sounds about right. Definately sounds a lil different than what mine sounds liek but i'm almost positive this person is playing in E standard and i play in drop C.

Also in the clean you can definately see that he is using a reverb pedal (which i BADLY FUCKING NEED)

Good find Soeru.

This is the best blue voodoo clip i've heard yet. Especially about 1/3rd of the way in when the guy starts doing the pedal point, definately sounds good.

I should make a few of these recording type clips and post em.

Doesn't the Blue Voodoo already have built in reverb? I know the BV-60 1x12 combo has it...

That may be the combo but i have the 300 and 150 head and it most definately doesn't. I don't think the 120 does.. but don't quote me i don't know about that.

That's really nice tone, reminds me of Iced Earth - Something Wicked album.

Those palm mutes...

Edit:

Listen to the track Stand Alone

Heres some Crate Blue Voodoo action if somebody wants to know what this beast sounds like. This is the Crate Blue Voodoo 150watt head with the Crate GT412 cab.

Both guitars were recorded with it and so was teh bass.

If you want to hear some good power chord palm mute action action wait till the last like 3rd of the song.

I'm wondering if that amps been modded because my BV doesnt sound that good. I have the older BV120H with stock tubes running through a b52 4x12 cab. i know the cab is shit but its not mine and its all i can use right now. i also cant believe how quiet my amp is. its not much louder than my friends marshall 'artist' combo amp. im kind of disappointed in my purchase. im wondering if i should get mine modded, or just buy a marshall tsl60 or engl. either way i will probably be getting a genz benz or avatar 2x12 cab with the money left over..

the 120 does have verb. Personally, i find chorus does wonders to cleans... just a TINY touch of bass chorus, low speed, low volume, low intensity. Cleans everything up real nice.... but eats the the sparklyness a little bit.... i wish my FX loop had a channel selector in it so i could single it out into the clean channel but NOOOOOO only the tsl 100 has that

Well you said you have an older one. I'm curious which model the recording was done with.

Mine sounds fairly like that.

underaserpentsun, the thread I found that sample at, the guy mentioned there were no mods or pedals used. If you can't get your sound like that(and if it doesn't have enough volume) you should REALLY try some new tubes.

I thought the high-gain was "OK", nothing more. Seems like it lacked a little depth, it was a little thin and the mids were sort of honky. Less high mids and more low mids would fatten up that tone by the thousands. Maybe he's running a cab with V30's in it, i think swapping them for something less nasal (Eminence wizard, or maybe go all out with a swamp thang (maybe too dark)) would do wonders.

Clean sound was incredible. Nicest thing i've heard in a long long time. Honky speaker theory still holding up, but they sound kickass for cleans.

I'm tellin you i'm most definately pleasantly surprised about my amps cleans. Theres alot you can do with it too as far as manipulation. Since you have a know for adjusting which freq you want your mid know to adjust you can add low mids or high mids with it no problem.

The clean sound still has me stumped. It's amazing. Is that with single coils or a bucker? That amp suddenly became interesting :P

Ern, V30's are relatively warm sounding, and most brutal massive sounding metal cabs(ie: Bogner, Engl, Mesa, VHT) all use Vintage 30's. If anything the guy has those G12-75's in the cab, those have scooped mid response and hence sound a bit trebley.

But I think it's just a matter of EQing, the guy probably has a different taste, perhaps he doesn't like br00t3l death metal.

V30's are nasal methinks. Yes, they have good low end, not too tight not too loose, but they have this hump in the midrange. Nothing a decent EQ can't fix. Plus they have that ice pick to the ear effect - pretty tiring when you're practicing for three hours. Anyway if you designed your amp to sound good with them it might. My fav. celestion offering is the V60 BTW, it's what Engl uses in their standard cabs, and it's somewhere between V30 and G12T-75. Not so scooped and shrill in the highs as the '75, not so honky in the upper mids and doesn't have that ice pick effect the V30 has.. Anyway, my ears are not yours. V30's sound great through a SM57 ;-)

Well I don't know man, but I think v30's are the standard in metal and hard rock for a reason, since most bigname tube amp heads are designed to work with a v30 cab.

Also take into consideration that 6L6's lack a litte something in the high mids

I predict that's a good thing when playing at high volumes, so it doesn't get too shrill. The Blue Voodoo ain't a dark sounding amp so that shouldn't be a problem. Plus there's a treble knob for a reason.
