I've just heard that 'The Crusade' instrumental, I've never heard so many riffs repeated far too many times that don't actually go together! Smacks of having sub-standard odds and sods riffs that couldn't be used else where being chucked together to pad out the CD! It's 8 minutes long but it felt more like a week!

i would think so.

newer bands cant hold shit against the likes of bolt thrower, slayer, sad x, suffocation, napalm death, pantera (there are several others) and their likes. their music excite emotions and feelings within, make you feel 10 feet tall or ready to explode, whilst newer bands sound boring and limp, like trying to get your dick up when your drunk off your legs (sometimes it works, sometimes it wont).
no tension within the music. no integration of theme or subtext with the general mode of delivery - the music. no sense of craft of articulating ones thoughts or views, which is what music is, or any other mode of art.
id like to go on but no one can really be bothered thoroughly listing the faults of others, especially me. this is why most responses degenerate into who gives a shit or theyre shit or you all suck horsecocks (which you do).

as far as im concerned; like, dislike or indifferent. no need for reasons necessary.

Heafy also has scripted interview answers. They are working so hard to be popular and not to write quality interesting music. Such a shame.

They can play their instruments, yeah, but then instruments are for the purpose of creating music. Shame they don't realise this.

kriss hades has been doing his own music/art project now for a couple of years and doesnt look like slowing down. his guitar playing is unworldly, and his bloodlust presentation was killer, from what i can remember.
dave and rok i have no fucking clue what theyre up to and the drummer whos name i cant recall has his own band whos name i also cant recall (fuck load of good i am).

I truly like Trivium's first CD. It's in my stereo as we speak (post). A couple songs on ascendency were cool, but some made me cringe. Then I heard the Crusade, I blew chunks. It has to be one of the saddest crappiest attempts at fame I've ever heard. But Ember to Inferno is one of my favorite albums.

Ive been in contact with hades and he is going strong with the solo thing. if you pre order the new cd he will throw in a bunch of videos and merch and shit from live shows. personally i like it far less than sad x. although the Satanik version of blakk mass murder is insane! slave is still doing doomed and disgusting which he claims is far more extreme than sad x but lets face it, its doom metal, so unless its fucking paint-drying slow riffs with kinetic 1000bpm blastbeats its not gonna be more extreme. Rok of course doing the solo thing aswell but havnt heard a peep from that in a while. i dont like the entire rokk and roll thing hes got going there, sounds like he wants to be in ACDC. sloth i heard something about ages ago with some band but yeah i cant remember anything either. none of the solo shit stands up to sad x though i think.

also kriss hades is holding guitar lessons at his art gallery. he was going to do them via correspondance too because he was going to send me all the lessons and shit but that hasn't eventuated yet, i should probably chase that up...

i can accept peeps like trivium and music of such ilk and i can also appreciate that listeners also find some meaning in such music (im sober).

it seems to me bands had to prove themselves first with touring and building a following behind a self funded demo and usually an album. a process which may have taken years to accomplish.
nowadays, this process has been compressed to such a degree that it is almost bypassed entirely with a new band being rushed through production and marketing on the strength of a 3 song demo, so the label can capitalize on the brief public interest generated.
usually the music suffers, because the young band hasnt had the necesary experience in finding their own unique voice, perfecting their art and maturing. the result is a less than confident release, as it would be. the lack of respect by labels for their audience fosters resentment precisely because they are shortchanging the process and are releasing substandard works, just to make a quick buck.
