retubing my marshall
so i finally got my fucking marshall 30th anniversary, and the dude said he retubed it, tested it --> "works fine", removed the tubes, and then wrapped them up separately. So i opened it all up, and i have 3 mesa 6l6's and 1 sovtek 6l6. Would my amp work with all of these? or should i get another pair of mesas... or what the hell should i do. all i wanna do is play

You shouldnt have any problems, although I would highly recommend ditching those, especially the Mesa's and investing in a quad of SED Winged "C" 6L6's. Best 6L6's in production right now.

i dont really want to spend 120$ canadian on new powertubes if i dont have to.
But, all things saved, are you saying i should be fine even though i have 2 different types of tubes? If so, i'd like to go stick em in right now... but... i dont know how...  i think i just stick them in the holes right? or does it matter which pins go into which holes?

Haha, yes it does matter. But there should be a little plastic knob in the middle of the pins that has a ridge on that will only allow you to insert the tube a certain way, so its pretty idiot proof. For all intents and purposes, given that they are the same type of tube, you should be ok.

the tubes also have little numbers on the bottom some amps have them too,thats another way

you;re dumb. If i actually needed to replace the preamp tubes, it would take 7 to fill my amp. And i was talking about powertubes in the first place, thus i mentioned 6l6's.
ps. Valtiel: it turns out that the mesas and the sovteks are identical in every way shape and form. Seems the all american company of Mesa Boogie goes to russia for its tubes.

Oh yea I know that, they also use chinese tues a lot as well. The only concern I had was if the tubes were too far out of spec with each other that it might cause problems. Mesa tubes for the most part are pretty mediocre so if you like the sound of the amp now, just wait till you put some nicer 6L6's in it.

i find it doesnt break up enough and its super bassy... but my cab is shite (line6 spider 2) so there goes alot of the blame. I need to play it other than 1am so i can actually turn it up and hear it sing. Time to definately invest in an od/ts808.

Ive just recently gotten into experimenting with OD's in front of my Powerball and its great! I love what a Keeley Boss SD-2 does in front of the Powerball's crunch channel. I love forward to trying some other stuff out, tubescreamers and such.
Definitely ditch that cab whenever you get a chance, and running Marshall's really hot is the key to getting them sounding good.

i was looking around inside the chassis (im too lazy to bolt the back grille plate back on) and i am missing a preamp tube shield... and noticed that this thing has original tubes.
2 things...
1. do i really need the shield?
and
2. would replacing these 12 year old marshall preamp tubes get me better tone?
