No it's not. Sure the preamp is based on the VH but it's not a real Ampeg now is it? Besides I don't want a head amp, I want the combo version of the VH-140C. I'm through with halfstacks for the time being.

It really isnt the same. I can't say for sure but chances are they are not using the exact same components as they did how ever many years ago in the VH140. Even the smallest changes will add dirrerent coloring, ect. No reissue or remake will ever sound just like the original.
