They aren't for everyone so don't worry about not liking them. Not every song has the "church bell" thing. Try some of the newer stuff because I just know you won't like the earlier material.
Go with: White 1, White 2, or Black One. If you still hate it, they aren't for you. |

I think Sunn is great. I can't listen to them alot, but they make great background music for chillin', or smokin' weed, and taklin' with friends, or whatever. My favorite song by them is HallO))ween, and my favorite album is Black One

Batteryhuman is right, you can't listen to them all the time, you gotta be in the mood.
for example i like listening to Orthodox Caveman while im lying in bed at night full blast. oh yea, it's better up full blast IMO, you really feel it then.

They bore me to sleep, and I actually like ambient shit.
If you want some nifty macabre ambient music that doesn't really have to do with metal, seek out Zero Kama - The Secret Eye of L.A.Y.L.A.H. Basically a ton of recordings of reenacted Tibetian/occult rituals with wind and percussion instruments made completely out of human bones. The intro sample in Hate Eternal's "I, Monarch" is actually their song "death posture", made using a wind instrument carved out of bones. \m/ I think you Sunn fans will like it a lot.

i recently purchased the Sun 0))) & Boris album Altar and its pretty good i dunno some people dont dig the whole ambient shit especially ones who are rankly into metal..... like if u wanna hear another rank band "Bogus Blimp" they are sure to give you what Sun 0))) cant

i love all of their shit. Definately need to be in a mood, or otherwise doing something mundane (like homework). It Took the Night to Believe is probably my favorite song. Amazing background/chilling/smoking/working music. Other than that, its pretty boring. The distortion is fuckin SICK though. The reason its hard to listen to for most people is that they write songs by planning about 10% or so ahead, and then just trancing out and making up the rest, song structure is not important to them.
The new cd altar, sooooooooo good... and so creepy at the same time. I find its wayyyyyyyy different than all of the other Sunn 0))) albums, the guitar tone is the same, but in Altar theres drums and multiple singers (instead of just whisperers)... and a semblance of rhythm! The Sinking belle is a creep overdose, amazing during sex though

That would be the song O)))BOW 1. It's a song they did with Merzbow (the noise guy). None of their other songs sound like that. |
