Feel Like kicking myself
So a while ago i bought the marshal mg 200 combo for about 400 CAD, not a bad deal, i figured it wouldnt be so bad. Problem is it is barely audiable over the drummer i jam with, could be the size of the room, or the acoustics. But, even during the shows, we are out-volumed. So, i picked up the marshall 1960 lead cab for aboot 300 CAD, also good deal.
Here is the problem:
The mg 200 is an SS amp, and running it through the cab speakers sounds like shit for some reason.
I still wanna keep the combo, but i wanna get a cheap head. I dont need one with any specific distortion, my stuff basicly comes through a combination of pedals.
I want to try out that crate powerblock, if anyone has any opinions on that.
If not, im looking at the Line6 spiderIII,
Ibanez Toneblaster 100 watt,
Line6 spider II
Hartke GT100
Peavy Supreme XL
Any help would be much abbliged.

Line 6 or Peavey man. My buddie and i play together and he has a line 6 with a MT2 pedal and i have a Peavey with a MT2 pedal we have our sound for playing trash exactley the same. Over All tone is AWESOME! Even though my peavey which is a transtube amp has a little more crunch than his.

I would advise against ALL of the amp heads you're considering. I don't think the MG is worth keeping especially if you can't even use it for band practice.
Your best bet is to sell your MG combo and pool it with some more cash for something like a:
Crate Blue Voodoo
Peavey Windsor
Engl Fireball
Peavey XXX or 5150.
Crate Stealth tube heads(!). < Great choice.
Peavey Triumph or Ultra tube heads(predecessors to the XXX)
Ampeg Lee Jackson VL head(!!!!) < I would get this, as it's cheaper than most of these.
And if you prefer solid state:
Ampeg VH/SS series heads or combos.
Randall Warhead or Cyclone head or combo.

if you're tone is all pedals, dont go for line6, the amp models filter out any tones that your pedals encourage... its kinda annoying.
and honestly, fuck all the used shit... find your own tone.
Best SS for price, i'd say go for a powerblock, because hey, you wont be using amp distortion anyway, so why the hell should you buy an amp for its own distortion? Plus, its cheap, its tiny, and very basic. You dont need all that extra shit. For tube, or if you dont want pedals... and if you want to spend that much more... soeru has the list of amps the everybody talks about.
for the mg200 combo... turn the volume up. If my mg15 can keep up with a drummer, your 200 can. Turn it way the fuck up and lean it bakc on the wall so it points somewhatupwards... but its not the best gigging type, but thats what your powerblock will be for. I'm still trying to get over why the hell you'd buy a sweet combo IF its only for practice. Who cares what you sound like whne you practice, if you have a real setup for live sits, thats all you need. But if you decide to get a different combo for gigs, just mic it. The sound engineer will love you if you mic it, its easier to control that way.

Fuck pedals?
Well, as ingenious as that information may sound, i'm not gunna get rid of the pedals, i spent way to much money on them. Not to mention they sound awsome (imo)>
Soeru, those amps are basicly made for metal, if not hard rock, the reason they cost so much is due to the awsome crunchy fat sound of the majority of them, which my pedals can match/outdo.
To everyone else who wants to recomend an amp:
This Is where i have to get my shit
Its so i dont have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for limited stuff that dealers by where i live sell.
The Voodoo goes for $1,749.00, i dont know what you are going on about aboot 400$ Canadian.
I think i'm going for the powerblock anyway, ty

If you want to get a new amp, sell all your pedals, they're not going to sound the same/much better through a new amp. Buy an amp that doesn't need a pedal. For all the amps I reccomended: Don't buy from a dealer. Buy it from ebay. All of the amps at that store are not worth what they're selling them for.
The powerblock... shit for 99$ its a nifty toy, but don't expect the thing to last for more than a year without some component failure. They're built with very cheap parts. Will probably do OK with a dist. pedal.

Well, the one i use for tone (dont say a word tilll you read the rest) would be the Radial Plexitube Tube Distortion
That is just for the basic gain.
I change to different amp styles with a Digitech Rp150 and everything else:
Zakk Wylde Overdrive
Good ol' duncan wah
Boss CS3 Compression/Sustain
Boss Ge7 Graphic Equilizer
Berhinger NR100 Noise Reducer
MXR Phase Shift
And most other stuff: Line6 Guitarport (awsome pedal)

Radial actually makes really good stuff, although as far as amps go I would still highly recommend a BV120.

Same ol same ol thread haha.
Definately recommend getting probably the BV-120 like was said before. I have the 150 and the 300 and they both pretty much own. Its got a very distinct sound and distortion that sounds really good. Its just a very well-rounded amp.
