Lower fret buzzing on new guitar

Just bought a new RG120 Ibenzes. Right out of the box, there's a little fret buzz on the lower frets. I've pretty much just ignored it, but it's kinda annoying, unless I turn up my amp or practice stuff on higher frets. Anyway is this normal at all? Is there adjusts that need to be done on new guitars?

Also, my epiphone special, which is older buzzes on the lower frets aswell. I was thinking about put like a shim or something under the nut to raise the strings from the lower frets as it's def. where the buzz is coming from.

Check the truss rod. It sounds like your guitar has back bow. Check this article out http://www.athensmusician.net/archi...geneimbody1.php.

I have buzz too, though it's on mid-high frets on the low E. Is it not just that I need to raise the action?

depends, first loko if your neck is setup right.

press down the 1st fret and the highest fret (so 21, 22 or 24th) keep them both pressed down, there should be a little bit of space between the string and the 12th fret (really a little) like half a mm to 1 mm, if the string is touching the 12th fret then you need to loosen the trussrod a bit, if the string it too high over the 12th fret you need to tighten the trussrod a bit.

if thats correct and its still buzzing then its your frets.

raising the action might solve some buzz, but on a proper setup and proper fretted guitar the action should be able to be realy low.

Fret leveling generally makes the biggest difference with less expensive guitars. I agree, make sure that everything is setup correctly first, but then you should think about getting the frets leveled (or doing it yourself, it's pretty easy).
