Anybody here who can play Arsis?

I'm just curious because I can't wait to be able to play "The Face of My Innocence" off their debut. Fantastic melodeath (and this is coming from someone who normally can't stand the genre), and VERY technical.

So can anyone play it? (link here: http://metaltabs.com/tab/12327/) If you can let me know how much experience you have...

I've only been playing a year or so (well I started 2 years ago but got tendonitis and had to quit for a year, just started again 3 months ago), but I practice quite a bit (4 hours/day on school days and 6 or so on weekends/breaks), and am planning on practicing like an absolute fanatic over the summer... I'm gonna shoot for 7 or 8 hours a day.

So yeah I just wanna know about when I'll be able to pull off this gem hehe

jesus you have a lot to learn.

im sure theres someone that can play that stuff.

youll be able to play this once you pick up your guitar, and start learning the song, then a few months later u might be able to play it, might take weeks, might take years, depends on you. kinda obvious ey

wel that depends on your skills and ability to learn i guess, it was just an example, there are some solos that im still trying to play perfect after 1 year of practice, where some other i play them (almost) perfect within 2 weeks.

Face Of My Innocence, minus the solos, isn't too tough. The intro's a little tricky, but none of the other riffs are extremely difficult. Just practice your picking and legato technique and you could learn it pretty quickly, I'd bet.

Try some of the easier bits of the song at a slow speed and see how it goes.

Hey there. I play it. In fact it was the first tab I ever requested here at MT, that was about 2 years ago, when I was only like 6 months into my guitar playing.

Been playing under 3 years and I can pull that off as well as other more technical shit(currently learning some Psycroptic, check that shit out you'll like it if you like Arsis). That's a good tab there, but I do it my own way. Here's a tip: Instead of doing a sweepish thing(the first riff), you can simplify it a lot by transposing everything to the 5th and 6th string, like this:

--------5-8-12t-8-5--00--00--0
-0-5-7---------------00--00--0

T = tap. It's all legato.

Do the exact same thing for the 2nd variation of that riff on the 4th and 3rd strings.

So that requires less finger stretching, leaving less room for mistakes, and sounds exactly the same as the harder way to do it.
