I am plan to buy a $400 peaveey valveking amp. All tube. Is it a good tube amp or is it a gimmick?

I bought the head and i play through a marshall 1960a. Ive had it for about 8 months and havn't had a single problem with it. Theres shitloads of control over your eq's and distortion. I play with the distortion on about 5 or 6 and the boost button in and it's plenty. playing a Jackson with a dimebucker and it sounds brutal. My other guitarist sold his marshall JCM 900 and bought one, he's playing an ibanez with emg's and it sounds killer as well.
For the price you won't be dissapointed. But you better try it first coz this is only my opinion while others say it's shit with not enough distortion.
All depends on what axe, pickups your playing through as well i suppose.
