80 watts solid
60 watts tube
Tell me what you know about it.
Is tube louder than solid? Why?

it wont be as loud as my 100w tube head and 4x12 cab because yours will hit a volume ceiling and start sounding like shit, while mine will just keep sounding better and better. That plus the fact i have 2 more speakers than you, and i can move more air. Nice try though.

between 80w solid state and 60w tube, all other variables the same, you won't notice a difference.

The 6505 will be louder as it's 2 speakers. Even if it were only 1 speaker it would still be apparently a lot louder.
Plus if you crank both amps loud as shit the Bandit will sound like a dying rhinosaur with it's crappy mid-range attack, while the 6505 will cut through like a hot knife through snow.
I've played a Bandit... it's a pretty mediocre amp, especially for the 300$ it sells for, you can do better than that with that $ in SS territory.

of course it is. Man, i've seen people use 18 watt tube amps in gigs and be able to drown out the rest of the band. the 6505 IS a gigging amp.

In case you're short on cash or don't like the idea of a 90lb. 2x12 combo, take a look at the Peavey Ultra 1x12 tube amp. They're essentially the older version of the Peavey XXX in 1x12 form(the XXX also comes in 1x12 format). 60W amps that can be had for 200-350$ off ebay. Or the Peavey Triumph combo, also a high gain 1x12 tube combo. There's a few on ebay right now.

buy an amp moreso for the tone though, not the weight. What i'm saying, is that if it truely sings to you, dont let the weight intimidate you into not buying it. Sure its something to consider... but amps are more about sound arent they?

Yeah... weight is small price to pay for tone, but I'll keep soeru's post in mind. Thanks for that.
If any of you heard the peavey 6505, describe it. Is it punchy? Thats what I'm looking for; nice, punchy, tight, and warm.
How effective are the tone controls in acheiving those sounds?
Are the controls the same as the 6505 heads?

it is responsive and tight as hell. Not sure about punchy... i've never really been able to get much low end out of it.
And no, its not very warm... quite cold and sterile... BUT if you used a seymour duncan Custom and kept the mids and bass high, im sure you could get some warmth out of it. Go test it out, see what you can make of it.
And yes, controls should be exactly the same as the head.

Just so you know tube combos dont appear reliable to me because the tubes feel alot of the speaker vibration and tubes are delicate and become microphonic. But then again people have tube combos with no problems whatsoever.
