An original song by me....please crit! W/vox
So im not too new here i have been looking at these boards for years....just dont post much, i had another screen name but lost it and couldnt remember.
Anyways, i made an original song and wanted to get some opinions on it. So..... i am playing all the guitars and my buddy is singing. I think it turned out pretty good.(the vox fit it very well IMO) I have posted it on a couple other boards and a few said they werent into that singing style so i decided i would post it here since it seems to be more geard toward death metal over here.
So please let me know what you think! I know the solo aint that great, but im not some insane shredder. This song has a melodic feel with some good death vox IMO.
PS i know the vox arent finished so its a work in progress, the song is called Fresh from the Furnace

Guitar tone is ok. Vocals are ok. The song itself is alright, although not highly original, but that's the ultimate fate of playing melodic death metal these days. The solo was cool man, it works for that kind of stuff. Gets interesting around the 2 minute mark after the solo, but maybe you should work on adding a few more changes/variety to keep it more interesting. Still cool though, nice work. How long have you been playing/what gear do you use?

Been playing for about 2 or 3 years now...i used to play when i was in middle- high school, back in 96. And i stopped playing, but got back into it a few years ago. I used an ESP EC-1000 and the line 6 guitar port for that song. Thanks for the comments.

Listen to Amon Amarth much?!
It was good, but yeah, not incredibly original.

Doesn't sound much like AA to me and I'm a big fan, but that slow strolling sort of vibe does sort of remind me of some of their more recent material.

Too much vocals if you ask me. Bring em back a bit by either dropping the level or cut some highs out to make it seem like its further back without having to turn level down.
Solo sound CHEESY! Record it again but with the effect on a different channel so you can blend the original and the effected to get a thicker sound.
But the guitars sounded good to me. How did you record them?
