Amon Amarth/ Children of Bodom
I just got back from seeing these guys at Nokia Theater (N.Y.) along with Sanctity (a new roadrunner signed band...).
First off, Santity were suprisingly good. I've seen them once before opening for Trivium and they didn't exactly impress me (better than Protest though) but their lead guitarist can fucking shred. Not only that but they were properly eqed so I could actually hear his leads very clearly.
Second band...I'll be honest, I never caught their name but they were alright. The drummer had a really tight blast beat but the riffs seemed to be a little on the sameish side. They also overused breakdowns on almost every song. Great mosh band though
Finally, Amon Amarth was fucking brutal as hell. I have to say, whoever was in charge of eqing this show did an amazing job. They played Death In Fire which is my favorite song by them but after this performance I'm going to have to buy at least one of their albums (any suggestions on which one are appreciated). 5 Star band and the pits (there were three going on at the same time) were brutal.
Lastly, COB. They were simply amazing. Every solo (aside from missing the first bend on Bed of Razors) was played flawlessly. The song selection was diverse ranging from a passage from Red Light In My Eyes (Something Wild) to Kissing the Shadows (Follow the Reaper) to Living Dead Beat. I would say that Alexi is one of the cleanest guitarists I have ever heard live and I will definitely be going to their next tour.
This is the first time where I was thoroughly entertained by every band in a single show. Definitely the best I've ever been to. Was anyone else there?

I saw them last night at Nokia too. The sound was amazing. I was very impressed........ Sanctity came on, got the crowed pumped then Gojira came on and thats when the place went crazy. I didnt really care too much for Gojira, they wher alright though.they werent terrible, personally, I think they had the bass TOO high. And then Amon Amarth....I dont have to say much lol....it was the most brutal shit I've witnessed......Im still sore lol. And of course Bodom was awesome and there leads were actually very clear(BTW who was the drunk they said pissed them off? A guy in the crowd?) And dont mean to be a dick but COB didnt play those songs.....(they did a mix of Mask Of Sanity and Deadnight Warrior). It really was a great show. BTW, was the first song Amon Amarth played Valhalla Awaits Me? I cant remember. It was a good opening song.

Yeah man, my whole body is sore too...it was a great show.
You're right, I was a little drunk but now that you mention it, that song was Deadnight Warrior. It was amazing and I wasn't expecting them to play anything from Something Wild.
As far as the first song by Amon Amarth, I'm still a noob when it comes to them so I don't really know many of their songs, just a few random tracks. What album do you think I should check out first?

I saw the MA show, afterward I met everyone in Amon Amarth except Fredrik Anderson (sp.) (apparently, he had a throat infection or something like that, he was still playing and kicking ass, so I'm not complaining)
Amon Amarth played Valhall Awaits Me, Runes To My Memory, Asator, Death in Fire, An Ancient Sign of Coming Storm, Cry of the Blackbirds, Pursuit of Vikings and Fate of Norns. I would have loved to hear Bleed For Ancient Gods and some of their other early work, but it was still a killer setlist, in my opinion.
And yeah, they opened with Valhall Awaits Me and closed with Pursuit of Vikings. I was actually rather surprised they didn't open with An Ancient Sign of Coming Storm.
Children of Bodom was alright, but honestly, I preferred their performance with Slayer back in June. Still a decent performance though.

I was going to go see the show in Anaheim at the House of Blues and got screwed out of my ride up there. Yeah, I don't drive yet. So I went and saw Napalm Death who were playing literally down the street instead. It was kind of a weak show, and they were playing with some really stupid bands, but it was way better than sitting home and doing nothing. It looks like I missed a really good show though
