What is it exactly? I'm guessing some sort of show where they show off all the new latest and wisbang music gadgets?

guitar companies go there to show off the shit theyre guna release in the upcoming season... and sell custom jobs, and soon-to-be standard jobs for huge pricetags.

And Endorsees with Sig guitars go and sign stuff at the *insert manufacturer here* booth, and some give live demos on equipment too.

something to that effect. i believe you either need an "invitation", like if you're in a fairly big signed and/or endorsed band or maybe just super good pal's with the right people. or if you work for a business that takes part in it. i don't think you can just show up.

i guess they just wanna keep things elite.

I think its silly. Bar the small amount of people that will be there, if a buisness' objective is to advertise and sell their shit, they are excluding the vast majority of the market. Yeah, NAMM news makes its way on the net, but meh, it should be open to the public.

You do need an invitation. I've tried to pull what few strings I could and got nothing. I think I remember something about it being open to the public the last day or two though..although I could be thinking of something else.

i've seen videos and pictures. i wouldnt say it's a "small" amount of people there. it seems like a pretty big and almost crowded gathering. of course a small amount of the consumer market, yet they have to control the amount of people in on it. and what better way than to have an invitation setup that also allows for a more professional/"elite" group of people?

Meh, I do say small amount compared to the whole market. Which it is. Whats the obligation to control the amount of people in on it?

think of how many more people would go if they could just get in with no trouble... it would be insane. and over crowded. with random people. sometimes you have to keep things managable.

I would, IMO, just put a price on the tickets. That way people wouldnt just go for the fun of it, and potential big spenders get their chance to buy the gear. But meh.
Where is it?
