Got questions On my marshall avt stack

Hey yall!

I've got some questions for you guys about the choice of a cabinet for my Marshall Advanced valvestate technology head.

I already have the Lead cabinet but it sucks alone.
I was wondering if I should get the Rythm cabinet and combine it to get a full stack, or sell my cab and get a stereo cab to get a half stack.
I don't really know much about what a stereo cab does ( if its better than a full stack). I play metal in the veins of in flames and unearth.
So if i need a stereo cab tell me why and wich type, because I dont know much about it.
I just know that for now Ive played the amp with only the lead cab and its the worst thing ive heard in my life. Muddy and no low end because its not a rythm cab.
And if a stereo cab would get me the same sound as a full stack, it would be less shit to carry!
(btw lead and rythm cab are mono.)
THANKS !

What cab are you running with that? If it's just one of the AVT ones, change it. Look for a 1960A or B. You shouldn't really need a stereo cab, but the 1960 a/b's can be run stereo @ 8 ohms.

okay... heres the rundown on stereo and mono operation in regards to a single head.
Amp has different outputs, typically 2 with the same ohmage rating.
Cab has 2 inputs, and a mono/stereo switch... mono going at 4 or 16 ohms, and stereo going at 8 a piece. MONO means that you plug 1 cord in and it will operate all 4 of the speakers. STEREO means you plug 2 cords in, typically 1 for each side of speakers, so 2 speakers an input, it doesnt sound like a full stack, it sounds like a half stack, because it IS A HALF STACK.

Now, for LOUD CLEAN settings, the less your poweramp has to work, the cleaner it will sound, therefore you go for low ohmage because its less effort.
For thicker tone, aka, relatively low volume yet fat cleans, and relatively low volume yet sick distortion, the harder your poweramp has to work, the lower the volume and the more fat the tone, therefore you go for high ohmage so the poweramp has to put its back into it.

THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE in sound between stereo and mono cabinets of the same speaker config and construction quality, just versatility in its uses..
For example, a mono cab can only have 1 amp head plugged in... a stereo cab can have 2, one amp head for each side. Therefore if you only have 1 head, and dont plan on getting another, go for the mono.
To make a full stack, you run the AMP IN STEREO (2 outputs), and the CABS IN MONO (2 inputs total), and you plug the amp into both the cabs.

did that help as an explaination?

oh, and advice for the cab, ditch the "lead" cab or whatever it was, and get a real marshall cab like a 1960... it will have better speakers than the avt cab, and will be able to handle both lead and rhythm tones... damn those avt cabs sound restricted...
