200+ BPM

I was just wondering does anyone else have a hard time playing say 666666666666666666666 etc... 220 bpm i thought i was pretty fast when it came to these type of riffs, but i was mistaken..

the piece im stuck on... looks simple enough but i cant stay in rhythm with it due to the bmp... i think i would be fine if it was like 190-200..

Dude, I think there are plenty of thread on alt. picking stuff, have a little search.

Yeah, and just practice and shit.

Search for threads for picking help and increasing picking speed.

I often feel people over analyse the concepts of BPM etc... Some seem intimidated by the status of 220, when in reality it's just the same as 110 with half the bar/double the note values. Alternate picking at 8ths/16ths should be fine to be practiced from a range of say 70 increasing upwards to 130. This way it'll cover your 8th notes up until a range of 240 or whatever, making it easier to fall into the pocket etc. Practicing at half of the time just allows you to form better responses etc and work it gradually

DUDE! Thats exactly what I was trying to explain in another thread. You put the words together better than I did.

See you got that rhythm.

ive found playing triplets starting on both up strokes and down strokes and gradually getting faster at them to be beneficial for string skipping and increasing accuracy at speed. and once you have a feel for the triplets extend the notes whilst maintaing even rhythms and timing. observe.

repeat riff, or use a combo of rhythms, or whatever.

remember to keep the timing and rhythm constant, start on both down and up picks (very important), gradually accelarate picking until you stuff up, then slow down to an easy speed before gradually building up the speed again.
i guarantee within days you will notice improvement and months later you will be the fastest in town.

This a triplet or a gallop? Don't confuse people with incorrect terms!

Playing triplets is not the same as a gallop rhythm, which going by your tabs, is what you mean.

Your advice is sound though.
