?Bill Lawrence Pickups?

I have a new Ibanez S 530 EX mahogony body and I want to replace the pickups. I play a lot of metal, Slayer, Pantera, Metallica, Megadeth.

I've been looking into the real Bill Lawrence Pickups http://www.billlawrence.com but I'm having trouble finding reviews or any info about the pickups. I really liked Dimebag's sound and I know these are the real ones he used. My question is are these good pickups I know Dime used the L-500 XL flipped in the bridge postion which was what I was going to do. I'm stuck on the neck position though I see they make a L-500 C which is the clean version. Has anyone had experience with any of these pickups and how do they compare to Seymore or Dimarzio's?

Just wondering if someone could give me some direction.

Thanks in advance,

-B-

I'd get an X2N if I were you, similar to the tone Dime had. I know someone who has had BL's and now has an X2N and he likes it more, he plays tech DM for Fleshrot btw.

The BL may sound warmer but I can't comment on that. All I can say is the X2N will melt your face off because there are no hotter passive pickups out there, it sounds killer but judging by your tastes you might not need all that output less you don't use a high gain amp.

We'll ordered a set today a L-500R for the neck and a L-500XL for the bridge. The pickups were only $50 each when you order them directly from Bill.

Read a bunch of reviews on harmony-central and they praised both pickups.

I'll right back and let you guys know what I think. Anythings gotta be better than these stock Ibanez pickups.

And to this I give you....... http://bareknucklepickups.co.uk/ZH-warpig.html

The Bare Knuckle Warpig, one of the few passive pickups hotter than the X2N. Probably the most badass humbucker on the planet. Plus it uses Alnico V magnets, so it can actually sound good clean as well!.

I'd never though I'd see anything hotter than the X2N... the finish/apperance on that thing is nuts also, looks like it was in a fire!

Yea, I want to buy another guitar JUST so I can put those pickups in it! Although they are about $400 for a pair. Ive got a set of Bare Knuckle Crawlers on the way for my PRS, I cant wait!

Back on topic, if you can afford it the Bare Knuckles I mentioned are some of the best, both the Warpig and the Nailbomb. Cant go wrong with an X2N either.

whats the difference in clean sound with ceramic vs. alnico? does a ceramic just break up faster or something?

added: and the warpig... wont scatter winding the pickup weaken the magnetic field... it should disperse it a little, making it less focused... meaning you'd have to have the pickup closer to the strings... which would add pontential for string pull...

Whatever you do make sure it's a decent axe... otherwise you'll go telling people about your new Warpig!! I used to know a guy who put an EMG-81 in his Squier and from then on refused to have himself or anyone else call it a 'Squier'... no no no, it was now an 'EMG 81.'

I already knew of BN pickups, but are you sure any of them have any more output than 510mV?!

If that is true(I doubt it), then the X2N is the hottest most reasonably priced pickup out there.

The magnetic field dosent come from the windings, it comes from the magnet. Scatter winding apparently lowers the capacitence between the winds of wire which allows more natural top end through.

Alnico magnets are warmer and more natural sounding, ceramic magnets are more harsh. Good for metal but not so much for anything clean.

Don't the winds create a solenoid magnet?
