In case there are any aspiring studio producers here...

Same multitrack used in Morrisound studios for ages, that Erik Rutan bought off of Jim Morris recently. Tons of Death, Morbid Angel, Suffo, CC, and tons of oldschool legendary albums were recorded with this thing.
So who can afford it?

Wow dude, that's incredible. Though I don't think anyone would wanna buy it for more than memoribillia reasons! I sure wouldn't use it!

Well the weren't recorded with exactly that same one(lol its in Jamaica), but Erik Rutan bought off the same recorder off Morrisound, it was the main recorder in Studio A.
Actually getting that recorder, a good mixing table and a bunch of decent mic pre's and compressors/signal processors and mic's will cost a lot less than any full protools rig. They're hard to record to though, impractical compared to modern recording gear out there, but you can't make records sound that solid and awesome with new hi fi gear.
I, Monarch sounded awesome thru it.

Does Rutan use an analog mixer as well?

Don't know if it's analog or not, looks pretty modern, I saw it in his HE DVD. All the details of his gear are at the Mana Studios website.

I used this exact machine in my recording classes our teach gave us a good history about it, but he says this thing is like so out of date that people just wanna use digital recordings, u can get that nice grainy sound with this though. I also believe the reel tape for this is very expensive and theres only a few companies who make reel tape for this machine so its going out of style i would still love to have one of these to mess around with.

It is SO much easier to home record now with computers and a little bit of money. Not sure who would want this except for someone that has been recording on one for years and is not into digital recording.
Listen to all 8 Bloodsoaked (death metal) songs here:
