amplifier buzzing
I have a Fender FM15 DSP amp, I just bought maybe 6-7 months ago. I've been out of town for the last 4 months and haven't even used it. I've always noticed a buzzing from my guitar, which I know why know, but never a buzz from the amp. I'm using a brand new, well the floor model, Ibenez RG120. They said that they would order me a brand new one. It buzzes on both of my guitars. My other guitar is a epiphone special. What could cause the amp to buzz? It's still under warranty and I plan on taking it back as soon as possible. Curious as to why, though.

3. are you near anything electronic... computers, tvs, lightbulbs...
4. when did it start buzzing (in relation to amp age)

Computer monitors generally have quite a far-stretching field. You will get buzz from it for quite a distance. Turning your back to it helps a lot. My Randall 200's coolant fan has a massive field. I always sit with my back to it in my tiny bedroom if don't want this huge "EEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRRR!" in every playing pause.

Buzzing/humming in many cases is an input jack problem.

does your amp make a pop sound when you touch any of the hardware? (bridge, strings, knobs (if theyre metal).
if YES, its a grounding problem within your guitar.
other than that, its probably what soeru said.

I played it in my brothers room were there's no computer or anything. At first it seemed to be working then it started buzzing. The tone, middle, and bass are turned down to a very conservative 3. Volume at 3 and gain at 3 and still buzzing. It gets worse the higher I turn up the gain, vol., etc. There's no poping sound. I haven't done anything to ethier input jack. Like I said both the guitar and amp are new. I'm going to take it back to guitar center, today maybe. They better give me a new one.
What amp would you guys recommend in the $150 range?

I went to guitar center and they gave me a phone to call. Called them and told them that the amp buzzes like crazy all over the fret board. They said that there going to call me back with a confirmation #?? When I bought they told me that I would have to ship it and do something else, I forgot. When they call back I'm going to get all of the details.
What about that cheap marshall amp they sell at guitar center for $70 which would leave a little cash in my pocket. The amp I have has all these different amp types and effects that I dodn't even use. I just want something good with distortion, metal sound.
Here's a link to the amp

The MG10CD Combo Amp
One question, is it better to have an amp with distortion or a distortion pedal?

Well the old saying "you get what you pay for" definitely applies here. See if you can pick up one of those Roland Cube amps.

One of those will give you way more than any cheap Marshall combo. Has great distortions for an inexpensive amp. I can guarantee you wont be able to find anything better for around $200. You can probably find em cheaper on ebay as well.

I have a used (less than a year old) Roland Cube 30, perfect condition, if you're interested in buying it. Not the new 30X model, it's the older 30 model (only difference is the 30X has another amp model in its COSM and it has some power squeezer thing). $125 (plus shipping and handling).
