Replacing an Edge Pro II bridge to an Edge Pro or Original Floyd?

First of all, I apologize if it's already been discussed. I searched but couldn't find any thread about it.
I'm thinking of getting an Ibanez RGT42DX which comes with an Edge Pro II bridge and I'd like to change it to either an Original Floyd Rose or an Edge Pro, like the ones found on the RGs. Does anybody know whether it's possible, where I could buy the Edge Pros and whether there's any info about possible routing etc.
Thanks!

Good question. I have a RGT42 and I'd ultimately like to replace the Edge II with the original Edge. I know you can get em on e-bay, but they tend to be pricey. I wonder if the Edge will mount fine in replacement of the Edge II.

I've had a change of mind! I just checked the prices of Jackson USA Series DK1s and they've become much cheaper over here so I'm getting one. My dream guitar! They come ready with EMGs and an OFR bridge. I'll be paying more than double the price of the RGT42DX but I think it's still worth it 'cause I don't want to go through all the hassle of changing the bridge, pickups and perhaps even the tuners.
Btw, I think Ibanez sell replacement parts including bridges! Go to their website, click on Parts and it will take you there! Good luck and thanks for the reply!

The Korean Edge Pro II routings will not fit an Original Floyd Rose, or so I was told. You willl need to rout out more of the cavity I think.

I think it will fit a Japanese Edge Pro trem though, but I couldn't say for sure. I'm assuming the dimensions are the same.

Aren't edge pro II's the stock trem on Ibanez Universes? :?: I own one, don't have it here but I know it kicks ass. Or maybe I'm getting the trem name wrong.

I'm betting those are the original Edge trems. Surely they wouldn't put an inferior model trem on an upper model guitar. Hell... the RG1570 comes with the original Edge... they retail around $750.

I think there's a "II" in the name but I'm not quite sure. My bro is coming here for the holidays bringing it for me. Needs a setup bad tho...

The Edge Pro is the Japanese version.
The Edge Pro II is the Korean version.

The Edge Pro is recognisable because it has steel inserts in the saddles. The tremolo bar is also different but you can't tell just by looking at it, the difference is how the bar slots into the trem itself.

It's all explained here:
http://jemsite.com/news/edge2003/index.htm

Edit: I think in 2005 they also released an Edge Pro III which is also a Korean model. I don't have any experience with it though.

Thanks for the link dude!

It's the Edge Pro (and II's) that suck ass! Thanks for the clarification.

The Edge Pro doesn't suck

Admittedly my Edge Pro II gave me string breaking problems, but it's an entirely cheaper beast compared to the Edge Pro.

Neither does the original Edge, but some people can't see the point of the new system (on Edge Pro's allowing you to not need to cut off the ball ends, and find that the ball ends get stuck often so they continue to cut them off anyway.

i had an old ibanez rg370dx (2003?) with the old pickups (silver poles instead of black) with an Edge II and it stayed in tune perfectly... and i wailed on it, full dive bombs until the strings drooped like a cumshot... and then i'd just let go and let the springs pull back the bar for that wierd sound... but it wasnt edge PRO haahhahah oh beauty.

The Edge Pro's don't suck, at least as far as I'm aware. I prefer the original Edge on my RG570, but from what I hear, the Edge Pro is just as stable over time (at least for the few years they've been out so far). Both are supposed to be the same quality. They're both on the upper quality guitars made in Japan.

Edge II and Edge Pro II (and I believe Edge Pro III) are the lower end Edges put on Korean (ie RG200s, 300s, 400s) guitars.
