my friend just bought a guitar...

that is insanely badass looking. kind of like the Lynch "bones" guitar but with a dragon head at the end

problem is that it sounds pretty crappy, what can i change in the guitar to give it a little bit more gain/heaviness?

is it the pickups or what is it?

haha

yes it is the pickups. what are they?

if they are decent pickups could be the wiring or dirt in the pots.

also interference from other electrical items in the house, the amp, could be the neck with fretbuzz, can be heaps of things,

but if structurally there is nothing wrong with it, better pickups.

well, if the guitar is crappily made with crappy wood, nothing can be done exept maybe some emg's.

on the other hand, if it's a decent guitar, it might be the pickups.

how heavy is the guitar in relation to it's size? it's no biblical truth, but usualy the heavier the wood, the better.

it's pretty light but the guitar itself is pretty small, no headstock

doesn't play too bad though although one of the bolts at the top is stripped so there is no way to tighten the last 2 strings

I agree, except I'd say that EMGs would definitely help a guitar's sound, if it's made out of crappy wood. I thought that's exactly what EMGs were for
