I bought the Boss Metal Zone pedal today. I've been playing around and it's great!

Does anyone of you know the settings to play a sound like Abyssic Hate and Burzum. I was thinking in recording a big hall of noise and then playing a more melodic line with a 2ªguitar.
Any tips for a Blackmetal sound would be also apreciated.

My amp. is an Ibanez. It's crap. It doesn't even have reverb. I'm going to buy a new one. But the sounds i'm getting with the pedal alone are great

How do you use the level knob? It explains here how to do it but i find it kind of hard. I don't know if it's got something to do with this but somo frquencies really fuck my ears

black metal sound is easy, B-4, M-1, T-7, or thereabouts.
a killer amp will also help, think of Marshall jcm800. and you dont want reverb.
lots of distortion, perhaps an active pickup in your guitar. and play it very loud.

would that ibanez amp by any chance be an IBZ10? cause i have one of those, sucks fucking donkey balls. in fact, i'm also using a metalzone pedal for distortion. i'll tell you right now, getting a good black metal sound is gonna be really hard, but for death metal that shit kicks ass. what you need to do is listen to some burzum (like filosofem or det som en gang var shit) and check out the equalizer it's played through. that should help, and just think of it this way: what is the frequency that black metal uses the least? the LOW frequency. kill it. NOW!!!
