Home Recorded Death Metal (Need Opinions)
Check out the link below to listen to my 7 songs I have home recorded. All are death metal songs that I am hoping to use for a demo CD after I get 2 more songs recorded.
http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pag...m?bandID=481840
I would love to get feedback from Death Metal fans as if they like the songs or not. I also wanted to post them so people can hear what you can do with some home recording equipment.
If anyone is interested in my home recording set-up please ask and I will post it. Any questions or comments are welcome.

I think you did a really good job on the vocals.
But you should really find a drummer and record him. I don't really like the way death metal sounds with a drum machine, IF thats what I'm hearing.
Good job on the guitars too.

its awesome. Vocals kinda remind me of Mike Akerfeldt, one of my favs, yet really unique. And guitar tone... LOVE IT... it reminds me of iniquity... the only ounce of criticism i can muster is to say that the guitar riffs are kinda simple, but hey, as you keep progressing that will change.

Just because something is simple doesn't make it bad. Simple equals memorable. Which is something that most Death Metal these days isn't.

Glad you liked it man. Here is how I recorded and my set up. Any specific questions please feel free to ask.
All of my songs basicly followed this same method:
4 guitar tracks 1 80% left, 1 80% right, 1 100% left , 1 100% right
1 bass track centered
1 drum machine track centered
1 main vocal track with some 2nd track fill-ins
The guitars are all done with my V-Amp Pro. 2 tracks with the Off-Axis Cabinet and 2 tracks with the Vintage 78 Cabinet. I also used the V-Amp Pro to record the bass track as well.
Equipment:
Jackson DKGMT Dinky w/EMG Guitar
Ibanez GSR200 4-String Bass
M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Card
Behringer V-AMP PRO
2 Behringer XM8500 Microphones
1 Behringer Eurorack UB802 Mixer
Acoustica Mixcraft Recording Software
Acoustica Beatcraft Drum Machine Software
In all this cost me about $1400 or a bit less. The guitat alone was $650, and I am sure you can use a much cheaper guitar and still get a great sound. The only other expense was my computer and that was brand new for about $500.
So most of you already have guitars and computers. Spend a bit on a good home recording sound card and Behringer V-AMP Pro and POD or something and you can make great home recording demos.
All my songs were recorded in my bedroom of my small apartment. I can even record at 3:00 in the morning if I want with the V-Amp Pro and not wake anyone up.
Listen to all my songs here: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/pag...m?bandID=481840

Thanks for the killer comments dude!!!
I would agree that the guitar riffs are simple but I am not a vert technical player and I am more of an old school death metal lover, bands like Obituary, Death, Sepultura, Pestilence, Deicide, Malevolent Creation, Morbid Angel. Basicly the first album or two from each of these bands. Simple, basic and straight forward death metal but also very great stuff and very memoriable!!!
Thanks for listening adn taking the time to comment!!!

I looked for a death metal drummer in my area for a long while and could never find a good enough one so that is why I setteled on a drum machine and doing everything myslef. I am slowly getting better at programming the drums!

the vocals sounded good, but maybe they could be EQ'd differnetly for a different effect. people would probably disagree with me, but thats just my opinion.
guitars sounded really solid and nice
the music in general was good too.

Thanks allot dude!!! I might ahve to through a few newer bands in there as well but for the most part I just love old-school death metal. I mean, I am 36 so I grew up on the old school stuff. I remember hearing a premire od Obituary's "Gate To Hell" on a college radio show in 1989 and going out and getting it the next day on vinal as I could not find the tape...LOL
The old-school vocals are what I am into the most as well. I like to be able to understand the vocals a little bit.

A different EQ on the vocals for an entire song or just part of it. What do you not like about the vocals?
Thanks for listening and commenting dude!!!

M-Audio Audiophile 2496 PCI Digital Audio Soundcard, cost: $149
V-Amp Pro, cost: $169
V-Amp Pro, settings: I have a patch that I modified with the V-Amp Pro softward. I have the midi cables going from my computer to the V-Amp Pro and that is how I change the setting on the V-Amp Pro. I never need to touch the peice of equipment, it is great. If you like I can send you the patch I use and it you use the software you can import it with no issues. Let me know.
