Personal opinions maybe? A lot of people on this site bro if you haven't noticed. I hell hate Peavey Amps or anything by them for that matter .

i'm sketchy about EMG cuz I've heard that they don't give a distinct sound...not saying I hate them...i've never tried them...just saying that I'd rather have some Seymour Duncans in my guitar right now.

Krank, because it's overpriced overhyped unusable garbage.
Emg's, they are okay, but make stuff sound a bit alike, and the character of the guitar will be less pronounced. So, you should put it in a cheap guitar, and give a nicer guitar passives.

The EMG-81 with the tone at 80% is great, but the sound is way too glassy and doesn't really respond to picking dynamics. EMG's IMO are meant for not-so-great guitars that don't sustain and sound too great. Good passives in good guitars will sound a million times better and more unique for any kind of music, especially metal. Never played a Krank but I would never want to own an amp with such a cheesy company name.

I hate kranks because I've played them and didn't dig the sound. they also look goofy and dig into the numetal scene, its a gimmick. a shady past also haunts them.
now, emgs, I like them. I have an ibanez rg loaded with an 81/85 set, just to have a guitar with the emg sound.
of course, my main guitars. a parker fly deluxe, and a parker fly classic, have custom wound dimarzios in them. me likes a lot.
whateve floats your boat. if you like emgs and kranks. good for you.

lots of metalcore or 'pop' metal bands use them, and krank is SUPER commercialized... its like the michael jackson of high gain amps... it ruins the kvlt-ness behind metal... and some people like their sound, some people dont, its all up to taste.
I like the sound, but i'd never get one because theyre way overpriced imo, and arent as versatile as i'd like them to be. The clean channels is super fucking clean with almost no breakup, and the distorted channel is super fucking distorted (and clear), its an amp built to hit the extremes, but nothing in between... and i like the in between. I dont just play metal, so having a huge pile of gain would only be useful in certain situations... and i like to have something thats somewhat useful in almost every situation.
If you like it, and feel its worth the price, go for it. Its your sound, not mine.
and then emg's... the bellybutton of pickups... everybody has them, they eat your guitar's tone (which is a good thing if your guitar is a hunk of shit ) and if you're guna get an expensive guitar, you're guna want to hear the guitar through the amp, not just the emg's. Very sterile... good if you dont want character. All up to preference.

I could honeslty careless who plays them in deciding my tone. I have no beef with krank at all. In fact it would seem they are pretty versatile. Atl east from the bands i've seen use them. For instance as far as metal goes Darkest hours rhythm guitarist uses krank amps, and thats about as much as i need to say, because his sound is pretty fucking solid.
And my other example is the punk/ska band Against all authority. The guitarist uses krank and it sounds pretty fucking good. Just good punk distortion with good cleans for ska upstrokes.

Hey xdislexicx how do you find the fly deluxe for metal? I'm thinking of putting some of those custom dimarzio parker pickups in my p-42 (still working up to a deluxe hehe), either that or an X2N.

i love the fly for everything. smoothest guitars ever and with the piezo's, two humbuckers, coil tap, and the ability to blend piezo's with the magnetic pickups. sounds are very flexible.
my deluxe is a 1995 so it has first generation pickups. around 98(i think) they changed the pickups a little bit. but i like these just fine.
i just sold my american deluxe strat and my nitefly-sa and bought a 2000 fly classic.
i don't know if the fly pickups will work in my humbucking guitars. i think they're a little different in size. and the way they have to be mounted is also different since fly's are so thin. i'm not super familiar with the P series so i don't know how it would work or sound. you might wanna contact parker on that.

It seems like Krank have taken steps to clean up their act, as when they first came out all you heard about was how bad they were, as of recent people have been reporting positive experiences. If you want to see a company that's really shot their own feet off then look at Madison. I did'nt think that you could fuck up worse than Krank did in their beginning but they've done it.
EMG's are the best for pushing an amplifier ( like a Marshall ) into higher overdrive, in my opinion. But the X2N wins, hands down for my tastes.
