Its All In The Neck
I have a really new guitar and an old guitar.
When I play on my new one... I feel a certain way. The feel of the guitar shows up in my playing. In my style.
When I play on the older one... I feel a different way. But also showing up in my playing and style.
Do you think that the guitar itself and how it feels for you manifests itself in your playing?

Whoa. You've attempted to turn the most simple and basic concepts into a deep, profound and philosophical question.
Shame you failed

Yes. Ever noticed when you buy a new guitar you find your playing gets a little boost? Doesn't last too long, but it's tangible all the same I think.

Incorrect. As a matter of fact, when I get a new guitar, my playing decreases slightly for a short period until I get uesd to the feel of a brand new guitar/model.

No, it's not incorrect, it's a matter of opinion!

I kinda feel the same way as Infinity. When I got my 2nd guitar, i needed to get used to the neck which was much thinner than the neck on my first guitar, the bigger fretwire and flatter fretboard radius among other things

For me it can be either way. It also depends heavily on the body style too.
When I first tried strats(when I bought a DXMG) I couldn't get used to playing it at all. The neck was great but the angle at which the neck must be held when playing strats was too weird for me at the time(in fact it still is sometimes). Also the lack of a wing to rest my arm on while picking contributed to me not getting used to it, so I sold it.
BUT when I got my current main axe, a BCR NJ Ironbird, it was all magic as soon as I set it up and swapped the strap pins for better balance, my playing apparently improved two fold.
Now I have another "smaller than a dinky" bodied superstrat, a Charvel Model 5FX that I love dearly. The immense frets the thing has really improved my playing as far as tapping and legato is concerned when I got it.
It's a matter of opinion.

I always find myself going back to my older guitar. That neck is just too perfect for me.
New guitar: Ibanez Prestige RG1570
Older guitar: Ibanez RG370

When I had my Jackson Kelly, the body lent itself to writing killer riffs, due to the position of the bridge on the body, and subsequently leads didn't feel as comfortable (fat neck with limited upper fret access too), but my point was that a different feel sometimes helps me approach playing differently, and encourages you to try new things. The result can often help you out of a dead spot with playing or writing. Has for me anyway.

When playing a better guitar (or making changes to the old so it sounds better), yeah, my playing definately gets a boost which lasts untill I consider the improvement as 'normal'.

Wow, you're nuts! I had an RG370dx for a month or two. I bought an RG570 and sold the 370 very shortly after that. The neck just felt so much better!

I play different on both my guitars.. Maybe a little slower on one than the other due to the spec difference. I also have them in different tunings, so thats why i play different. Ones in Standard Half Step Down(Drop D HSD sometime), and the others in Drop B.
