Enter My Silence. That's the best i can do.
They do have somewhat of a growler, but nothing worse than In Flames.

Beyond the Embrace, NonExist, Callenish Circle, Carnal Forge, Newer Crowbar (kinda) Anything after Sammy joined, Some new Kreator, Gardenian, some Hypocrisy, Overkill (kinda), Poison The Well (kinda), Shadows Fall, Skinlab, Soilwork.. I know some of these guys are more thrashy.. But I think they kind of cross the line between Trash/Melodic Death sometimes.. That's my opinion anyways..

shadows fall ruins their band with that really bad growler. they should just use the guy that sings clean. the song "the first noble truth" has a catchy chorus, but its ruined by that growler saying "hey! hey !" or whatever,

you should check out:
construcdead.
still kinda unpopular, swedish melodic death / trash, a bit like soilwork / in flames... quite heavy..
darkest hour is another band worth checking out
desultory is kinda melodic, too (check out left behind)
diabolical (could be that you dislike the vocalist a bit)

Yes, Children of Bodom are like black meets death. And Kalmah too, but they are both great. Also try Norther, if you want another band that sounds excactly like CoB. Their version of Final Countdown is......entertaining....

Yeah no shit.. I knew what they were when I typed them.. I thought he might like them.. they tend to have a melodic type sound to them in some songs.. That's why I put the kinda.. I even mentioned the bands were more "thrashy" look before you stick your dick on the railroad tracks

man, Skinlab?!!?
that's just nu-metallish stuff, they did make kickass music back in the day, but nowadays they just plain suck!
posion the well isn't really melodic either if you ask me, it's more a emo-mix or something, great band though..
Uneart is a pretty melodic band, seen them live twice, got their cd.. good stuff overall. Caliban is also pretty melodic but it depends on the song they play..

Since when is Atheist considered melodic death? Sure they have a few melodic parts here and there but damn, it's not their genre. More like progressive/thrashy/jazz/death metal.

Anyways, Insominum, COB, Dark Tranquility, and At The Gates calm my melodic and melodic death craving

Wait... CoB is black metal? What the hell is black metal then? god you people piss me off sometimes with your confusing genre lines.
Anyways, Edge of Sanity sounds like a really good band, I heard a bit of them the other day and my friend is gonna get me a copy. one of thier albums, Crimson, is just one song, pretty cool.
If you ask me soilwork sucks, their vocalist is shit, sounds like some nu-metal crap, or something, it makes it un-listenable for me.

most of these bands have both high and low vocals done by the vocalist:
prayer for cleansing, glass casket, rifles at recess, the black dahlia murder, through the eyes of the dead, as hope dies, the acacia strain, darkest hour

Sorry to dig up this thread, but thanks for posting that now I have another band to look up.
And Bodom's album Something Wild was definitely influenced by black metal. If you haven't heard that album then I can understand where you are coming from, though.

[QUOTE=Gigantic Penis]im looking for more melodic death metal bands like in flames, dark tranquility, arch enemy, and soilwork. any suggestions?
QUOTE]
Honestly, i dont consider those bands death metal compared to whats coming out these days by new bands. Try Nevermore...
