Artificial Sounds+Loose Connections

Greetings dear fellow metal heads!

Never went here in an aeon, anyway I got some queries I need addressed.

I was in the middle of recording my final demo song when all of a sudden a copious amount of artificial and unwanted sounds started coming from my guitar amp. I checked the connections and realized the outlet in the wall were my stabilizer is connected to broke and the grounding for the stabilizer came off (all my gear is connected to a multi extension unit which is connected and powered by the stabilizer). So I replaced the outlet in the wall with a new one and replaced the grounding for my stabilizer and voila the sound got even better than before. My question are: 1- Did the outlet in the wall break because I unplug the stabilizer from it everyday when I’m finished using it? Can unplugging and plugging into a wall outlet everyday break it? The reason I do this is because I am always precautious with my gear. 2-My amp (and other gear) is connected to a multi extension unit which is connected to the stabilizer. When the stabilizer is off but connected to the outlet in the wall is there any power even minuscule that still goes into the extension unit. This is what I fear, I don’t want any power to go into the amp when I take off the stabilizer and I don’t want to unplug the stabilizer from the wall because I fear I will break it. Is it safe to just take off the stabilizer and keep everything connected to how it is? Is that what you do?

Thanks you very much!
